sharyn
Today I took Dad for his 3month check-up( you all know the one, where we hold our breath till its over) anyway... He hasn't had chemo since July 2001, everything has been "stable". This last MRI showed another little area of Bone Mets near his hip (he already has one met there). His lung lesions look about the same... Doctor is gonna start him on Aredia tomorrow for his bone. And Radiation treatment (first time he is ever having that). He says he is does not need more chemo at this point, and that his cancer is a very slow-growing type so they will just continue to monitor closely. I was getting use to going to these 3 month checkups and having them say "everything looks great, see you in another 3 months" I am very upset tonight - Trying to stay positive - need some inspiration from you guys... Love, Sharon
Connie B
Dear Sharon, If you don't mind my saying, I am sorta of glad to hear the doctor offered Radiation treatments. The radiation may zap those tumors in the hip, and that would be great!! The time to be really bummed is when they offer nothing! As I know you are aware of that! But, I like the fact that the doctor is watching him closely. It's never easy to deal with anyone in the late stages of any kind of cancer, let along lung cancer. Some treatments work for some, and not for others. It's the mistery of this disease, that's for sure! And as long as they are still offering him treatment options, I think that still gives us HOPE!! And like I said before, until we have a cure for this monster that lurks within so many of us, we STILL have HOPE!!! I'm sending you a hug (((((((((((Sharon))))))))))))) Hope this makes you feel better. Share that hug with your dad! Warm and Gentle Hugs,
sharyn
Thanks Connie... I guess you are right, the time to worry is when they offer no options... It will just take me a few days to adjust to this news and then - FIGHT WE WILL!!! Sharon
Tiny
Dear Sharon, Sorry to hear that your dad's report was not 100% good, but the fact that the lung lesion looks stable sounded good to me. I've heard encouraging things about radiation of bone mets, so have my fingers crossed for good results. You and your dad are here today, so enjoy, share some love, and make some memories...we hope for a long time! Keep us posted.
