I may have mentioned in a post that my brother, three years older, never woke up from his lobectomy just about three years ago. He was a decorated veteran (2 bronze and 1 silver medal) from the extensive amount of time he spent in Vietnam and during Desert Shield. He retired a CW2 after 23 years as a tank man, 16 of those years spent in Germany. I miss the guy every day. 

The valor shown by that soldier should have been a chit to exchange for a long and happy life. It's sad it doesn't work that way.
