NED. Wonderful, beautiful NED. Yet my take away was kinda depressing. Long story.

Ned is awesome. I am currently looking for a low stress not very physical job. My biggest impediment is my work history. I keep hearing over qualified. Not worried. I'll find something. I told the love of my life that one more clean scan and I will give it 100% effort

I am a man of my word

What about the Pub? I thought that was your next venture.

CONGRATS on the scan results--love to hear NED!

The pub investment fell thru. Long story. Suffice it to say I would rather lose out on an investment than lose a friend of 25 years.

NED is awesome!

Great news in your friend NED!!!

Excellent call on both counts.  I hope the job situation comes to light soon, where we live there are now hiring signs everywhere.  Try to ditch the resume and see if that works.  That’s what we did for Tim & it worked.  He just called the HR department.  Depending on your salary requirements some jobs don’t even do interviews these days.  You just show up on the assigned start date.

Tim was forced to find a part time job with health insurance (which there’s typically at least a 6-12 month wait).  He landed at UPS. Sounds scary but he was only in the heavy labor end for about two months and then he transferred out twice before finding something that worked better for him. Now my cancer care is covered at 100%.

Thanks for the pep talk Rower. I needed that! Actually going to try getting a government job and see if work from home is a possibility. Not sure I could do much physical work..but who knows.

Going to attempt to play 18 holes of golf tomorrow. I think I can make it thru. The real worry is how bad my game is!

Peace

Congrats on NED but sorry about the bar. I was overqualified for my last job and older than they liked but the senior VP was no fool and approved my hiring (my manager was an idiot). Good luck hunting!

Congrats on the NED!  That gives all of us hope. So glad to pop in here and see this good news. Very happy for you! :-)

Have fun with the round of golf... Just in time before the rains kick in!

Congrats from me also! NED is really our best friend. Sorry the bar fell through.

Hi BridgetO!

I know - it has been a long while. I have been wanting / intending to post an update. Try to at least "lurk" here when I can to keep up on all of you :-)  Thanks for asking!

How are you? Did you go back to volunteering? Could you? Safely? I admit, I have a lot of catch-up posts to read here on this forum to see how you and others are :-)

It's been almost 3 yrs since my lobectomy. Hard to believe. We've been watching another small, slow-grow tumor on left lung since 2018. It's still small at 8-9mm, but have decided to move forward and treat with SBRT.  I have a consult with the Radio oncologist tomorrow.  Of course, I have questions (Tom Galli... look out!) and will post later (not here on TJM's post! Sorry!)

Tom,

Sorry I didn't pick up on your NED result. FANTASTIC NEWS! A low stress job is important but it pales by comparison to a NED scan (my view).

Stay the course.

First of all congratulations on the NED!!!  Do you know what NED means?!  It means you can look for a job, even if it's tough.  Then be there to do it.  NED means that your body is stable enough to be concerned about the future and that is a good thing.  So, celebrate with a good golf game (I don't judge my golf by my score, but on how many balls I lose in the rough).  Keep smiling buddy, you'll be okay.

Hi ColleenRae,  Glad to hear from you😊. I'll wait for your post to post anything more so I don't hijack Tom's post any more.

Made it thru all 18 holes. Was a bit of a struggle the last three holes. Shot a 103. Pre cancer I expected rounds in the low 80s...high 70s.

But had a blast and really enjoyed the company I had for the round. Might give it another go next week. Let's see how my body feels tomorrow!

Tom,

What a great post!  Now when I can tell people what my golf score is I can add "post-cancer" but, (in my case), I won't mention that it wasn't any better pre-cancer.  :)
Actually, really glad you got out there.  Live fully, don't let anything stop you.

We'll be calling you NED from now on.

Congrats on your results and so sorry the pub fell through, I know that prospect had a profound effect on your whole soul. Perhaps another endeavor will surface. Not sure if you're looking for a real  8-5 or something to keep you occupied? You obviously love golf, maybe work in the clubhouse or drive the ball catcher! I'm retired Fed and found I missed the chaos, so now working PT at Home Depot. Definitively not a career job but feeds my need for action and gives me ideas on projects around the house.

Celebrate the NED! We are all  aspiring to what you have, Tom!

Awesome post. And thank you. Exactly what I'm looking for.
