Pain with SBRT

My husband is newly diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma in one lung. He has just started SBRT and is having moderate pain at the site. Is pain normal? He's only had one treatment. Any other side effects that are common?

Susan,

Welcome here.

I had SBRT treatment to a single tumor in my left lung. My procedures was performed over 3 consecutive days, and treatment time was about 30 minutes per cycle. I experienced no pain or side effects. I had a scan about 3 months after my treatment that showed the tumor to be "fried."

I would think pain would be abnormal. But, it should be reported to the radiation technicians on the next treatment. Perhaps a consultation with your husband's radiation oncologist is in order.

Stay the course.

Tom
