Oh well, live and learn,

Managed to take a turn for the worse and wound up with some severe breathing problems in Costa Rica, Sat. night was spent in the Hospital there and dx.ed with pneumonia. A bit scary, I must say.

I managed to get a flight into JFK and got right to a Jersey Hospital on Mon. AM, Seems that, I'm aspirating fluid from the stomach into the lung causing the the quick onset of problems. Seeing, a gastric specialist next.

I have also seen my pulmonologist, med. onc. and GP today, so gettin some answer's and guess things are just the way there suppost to be right now. I'm trying to work a lap top from the Hospital, and my skills at this are not the best but will try to get on chat tonight. No regrets, time to heal up for golf.

God bless and be well!

Bobmc- NSCLC- stageIIB- left pneumonectomy- 5/2/01

MRI's taken 12/18/03 - 2 brain mets found- named em Frick & Frack

PET taken 1/5 - hot spot in mediastinum May be cancer??

"Absolutely insist on enjoying life today!"

Hey bobmc,

Sorry you and airplanes and pressure didn't mix well.

Keep your lungs as clean as your swing, and maybe Costa Rica on your next pass....

kidding aside, glad you got home in one piece and got things taken care of. Things turned out well, considering where you were and what was going on.

Speedy recovery,

XOXOX

Welcome back Bob.I am glad you got to make the trip but so sorry it turned out that way.I hope you did get to fish at least.I had a bad case of pneumonia while working in southern Mexico in the 80's and almost waited too long to try to get home.Glad you did things in a hurry. It is bad to be stranded and sick.Sounds like your doctors come when you beckon. That is a good thing.Praying for a quick recovery for you.TBone

What could possibly be the benefits of landing in the hospital after a trip?

#1 - Pictures will be ready before you get out

#2 - Wife has to do ALL the unpacking and laundry

#3 - House won't have that "empty" feel by the time you get there

#4 - MORE great stories to tell!

Now cut this crap out and get well!

Hugs and prayers,

SandyS

Bob, I am so sorry your vacation was interrupted but so thankful that you were able to get home quickly. I guess I am "chicken" because I am afraid to go to a foreign country since lc entered my life, tho' still cruise and that can be risky. My pulmonary doctor has me on "the purple pill" due to gastric reflux which he says if it is bad enough to make me hoarse (it does) then it is bound to get into the lung. Maybe you should take Mo up on her suggestion. Don't give up on a great vacation. You have such a positive attitude. Prayers for a quick recovry.
