Kelvin4426
Hey guys my mom stage 3b had her first scan since treatment she did 2 rounds of chemo and 30 days of radiation she did immunotherepy for 1 round but couldn't do another as the side effect was too much. I'm scared for her scan but hopeful it has shrunk rather than spread. She is egfr exon 19 positive which hopefully can be a blessing inthe future. Was hoping to get your guys positive first scan after treatment stories Justin1970
LouT
Kelvin, I'm sure you'll hear many positive "first scan" stories here. They can range from "stable w/no progression" to "NED". First scans are always a milestone and then you look to all the ones that follow. In my case my scans have continued to be NED for three years. If you'd like to hear other survivor stories you can find them in our Cancer 101 section here. I wish you and your Mom all the best for good scan results. Please keep us updated. Judy M2
My first scan was a couple of weeks after chemo and radiation ended, and there was actually so much inflammation and scarring that it was hard for the radiologist to read. I had gradual improvements. Remember that stable is good. Wishing success for your mom! Justin1970, LouT and Izzy

LilyMir
How is your mom feeling Kelvin? Wishing her the best for the first scan and all scans after that. My first CT scan was OK, no evidence of cancer. It is nerve wrecking waiting for each scan but one has to get used to it. Next one for me in 2 months, which will be 4 months from the last scan. Life forever changed but trying to keep positive. Today I had my first supervised exercise session and I felt alive for the first time since my diagnosis. Hope your mom is trying to be active LouT and Justin1970

Kelvin4426
Good news doctor called and said that it shrunk! I don't know the full details yet but it shrunk!! They did find a blood clot near her ovary but doctor said nothing to worry about. My question now Is what's next after a tumor shrunk is it a wait and see thing? My mom has a meeting with her radiation specialist next Friday to see about her cough that's still there Tom Galli, LouT, Karen_L and 1 other
Judy M2
Great news! In your mom's case I think she would just be monitored by regular scans and bloodwork, probably every 3 months. Best wishes to her! LouT and Tom Galli
LouT
Congratulations on your mom's scan results. It indicates that treatment is having a positive impact on her condition and she is "better today than pre-treatment". That is something to savor.
