Fresca
I am new to this board. I have been reading for a while. My mom, my best friend, my strength has been diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma Stage IV. I just need some hope. We found out about a new kidney mass, and its all very overwhelming. She is only 54, beautiful, and kind. Can't describe what I feel at the moment, just looking for someone to talk to about it.
KatieB
Fresca, We are here whenever you want to talk. Take a look at the posts and PM or e-mail any of us here. I know how you feel, I'm a daughter of a parent with L/C and it is always overwhelming this roller coster ride we are all on. We all can relate and we all care, so keep in touch and you and your mom are in our prayers.
Fresca
Thank you for your reply. We need all the prayers we can get. I have alot of faith, but sadly I'm ashamed to say...I feel I'm losing it. Has anyone been on the Taxotere? Does it work? My mom shoulder met-fell off...it was under the surface of the skin and her last chemo dried it up to a scab and it fell off???? I hope thats good. My dad says its new tissue underneath. Has anyone hear of the Cancer Treatment Centers of America? Lots of questions, and feeling like running out of time..ya know?I want my mom to go to the Tulsa clinic, as I have heard great results. Thank you for reading all my many questions. KatieB
Hello, Have heard alot of good things about the Cancer Centr. of A.. You can e-mail or call them for an info. package. I did. It sounds encouraging. I've heard some folks say that they did EXACTLY what their doctors here at home did, but the difference is I think, is that they have an entire hospital dedicated to cancer, they have nutritionists and therapists and concentrated on other treatments (outside the box) as well as the standard treatments. We are not planning to go there unless something happens here with dad's Dr. or we run into road-blocks down the road. Right now we are happy where we are (knock on wood) , but it doesn't hurt to keep prepared and options open! I know what you mean about losing faith sometimes. We all do it. It is a normal stage and I do hope that you find your way to a balance and turn your sadness and anger into being proactive. I think if I stopped researching and fighting for my dad, and I stopped coming here, I would fall apart! There would be no hope or positivity. That is the number ONE thing you've got to have to muddle thru this battle and make it to the other side! It's been 8 months for me and I'm still paddling thru it all one single day at a time. I'm alot wiser than when I started and know alot more about L/C than I EVER wanted to! But I have 300+ friends who know exactly what I'm going thu! These folks here are my family and YOU are the newest member! We know how you feel and will be praying hard for you guys!

JudyB
Fresca, Sorry that you have had to enter this bewildering world of lung cancer. You can expect to feel all emotions in your journey with your mother. We've been there, done that. See Inspiration for some stories of "miracles." There are some promising trials going on and Iressa has just been OK'd. So, try to keep your emotions up. Remember: The power of positive thinking can change your world! JudyB Btw, where in AZ are you?
