Guest bean_si (Not Active) Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 I wasn't sure where to post this so I thought here. I picked it up at the Baylor's ALS group. I've carried this poem with me since my first trauma and raising my kids on my own. I think it helped. Don't Quit When things go wrong as they sometimes will, When the road you're trudging seems all uphill, When the funds are low and the debts are high And you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit, Rest, if you must, but don't quit. Life is queer with its twists and turns, As everyone of us sometimes learns, And many a failure turns about When he might have won had he stuck it out; Don't give up though the pace seems slow You may succeed with another blow. Success is failure turned inside out--- The silver tint of the clouds of doubt, And you never can tell just how close you are, It may be near when it seems so far; So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit--- It's when things seem worst that you must not quit. ......Anonymous Department of Neurology, Baylor College of Medicine Quote
Hebbie Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 My mother-in-law gave me that poem in a frame the week I was diagnosed and I have had it sitting on my bedroom dresser ever since. I find it very inspiring and I am sure everyone here will too! Quote
Snowflake Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 Bean_si, I have a bookmark with that saying tucked into my planner....the planner that I USED to use at work to keep myself organized and should probably return to... I worked in a high stress office prior to this assignment with a supervisor who was "difficult" on her GOOD days...I found this and kept a copy where I could see it after a "round" with her... When things go wrong as they usually will And your daily road seems all uphill When funds are low and debts are high And you want to laugh and can only cry And you really feel you'd like to quit, Don't come to me, I don't give a shi*.
