Guest Deb
Call your doctor and ask him if he knows of any agency that might offer discounts or subsudies (sp). I know in PA we have some help through the welfare system for drugs depending on income limitations. Social Services might me another place to question. United Way may be able to direct you also, but they may only be available in my area. $1900.00 would be out of my range if I didn't have prescription coverage. Carolyn Flournoy
Carlton....Someone posted a news article about local pharmacies over charging on prescription drugs. Check around at different places. I believe Iressa at Costco was $1750.00 or maybe it was Wal-Greens. Also ask your onc. if he can help you. When Jim went off Iressa the first time, he had 13 pills left over. His onc. ask if he would donate them to one of his patients that needed help. Which of course he did instead of throwing them out. stand4hope
Carlton, I am gasping for air at this cost. Wow! I don't know if you would qualify for any of this, but here is the manufacturer's website where you can contact them directly for drug assistance: http://www.astrazeneca-us.com/content/drugAssistance/ Peggy
Donna D.
My husbands oxycontin runs about 1300.00 a month and that is only the oxy not the other meds he takes. That was way too much for me to handle. With the help of our doctor and social worker at the cancer center we applied to the manufacturers for assistance. He was approved for 1 year and now we recieve meds via fed ex once a month and all we have to do is send in a new script 2 weeks before needed. Contact the manufacturer many of them have patient assistance programs worth checking into.

CynMs
I have been on Iressa for about 6 months now. I have no private insurance coverage, only medicare due to my disability. AstraZeneca has a great patient assistance program. There are certain criteria you have to meet, but if you do, they will GIVE you the drug at no cost . Do a web search on Iressa or go to the company web page. and follow the directions Also there is a drug discount card available, called the Together-Rx card. Several drug companies participate, and many drugs are covered..not just ones related to cancer. Again, you have to meet some criteria, but the criteria are not that restrictive. Several of my meds are covered by this card. The number is 1-800-865-7211.

Melinda
Carlton, As we have not yet crossed the Iressa bridge yet, I am afraid that I do not have any advice to give to you. I simply wanted to say that my fingers are crossed for you and that after reading this string of posts, I had tears streaming down my face. This--YOU ALL (and the support, knowledge, and advice you so generously offer)--are what make this board such a special, indespensible place. Bless you all. Melinda P.S.--Carlton, please keep us posted.
