brm1949
Saw the Dr today about surgery. First he wants to biopsy. He said he would be going in at the lower end of my ribs and inserting scope and cutting tool to the top of my lung apex. After biopsy we will see if he will take the whole upper lobe. Has anyone had this type of biopsy and if so what can I expect health wise after concerning healing and down time.
MO_Sugar
Sorry, no surgery here. Best I can do is offer prayers and good wishes. God Bless, MO
gail
I had the biopsy done while under anesthesia--he made several small incisions and took the nodule out. While I was still under they got the report, and then removed the lobe after making a bigger incision. Pain for 2 weeks, regular pain meds, and within 3 weeks I was off them. gail
brm1949
Thanks Gail, now all I got to do is wait for the appt. I hate the wait.
mhutch1366
Nobody likes the wait, Bruce. Best advice I can offer is distract yourself until it's time to go. Good book, small project, whatever. Biopsies are good things, just sorry yours is so involved. Good luck with it. XOXOXOX MaryAnn
Melinda
Bruce, No doubt about it: waiting stinks Our thoughts are with you, though. Please keep us posted on how things go. Melinda
Snowflake
My biopsy was different, Bruce. I had a CT-guided fine-needle biopsy. I was lucky (that is some HEAVY sarcasm - I HATE needles) enough to be awake through the whole thing so the man driving could tell me when to breathe and hold my breath.... I hope you find you are a candidate for surgery, be aware, lung surgery will be more involved than the biopsy procedure and it just ain't a walk in the park.... Take care, Becky
shelliemacs
i have been practicing with my "operation" game if you would like me to do the procedure for you. hopefully your nose wont light up though, i am still having trouble with that part. (just my humor to try to lighten the moment for you.)
brm1949
Thanks Shelly, they set up the surgery for May 11th. If you can fit me in before that, let's go for it, can't stand this wait.
ginnyde
I think Shelly let her malpractice insurance lapse (or did they refuse to insure her). Hope all goes well with the surgery and that the time til then goes quickly and happily. Ginny
Nushka
Bruce, I , like snowflake, had a needle biopsy while fully awake. Six jabs and collapsed lung were not fun...but they did find out what they needed to know and I was able to have the surgery. I went to Las Vegas 4 weeks after surgery and was able to have a good time. I just took my little bottle of percocet with me. The waiting is the worst part for me...I handled after the surgery alot better than I did the before part. Good luck ....get some good books. Fay A.
Bruce, Good luck on the surgery. I'll be hoping the nodule is benign.
stand4hope
Prayers for a successful surgery, Bruce! God bless you, Peggy
Lisa O
If what you are having is a thorascopic surgical biopsy.... that is what I had. The went in with scopes and surgical instruments and removed the first three nodules. I went home that day. After they found out it was malignant we did the thoracotomy to try to get the rest of the cancer. The thorascopic surgery wasn't too bad. Let me know if you need more information. brm1949
Well, I just got out of the hospital after the wedge resection. It wasn't that bad. I won't have results for the biopsy until 2 weeks. Dr thinks its not malignant from what he could see but final results will come later. If its not than I still have an unknown primary. I quess I want it to be malignant, to be primary which he believes he got it all. Its hard to know what is good news with this and what isn't. Will keep everyone updated. Guest bean_si (Not Active)
Hoping the primary has been found and completely excised. Not knowing the primary has got to be tough on you. You take care. Cat

Nushka
Bruce, Hoping that you get good news. Two weeks is a long time to have to wait...maybe Vegas? Maybe the beach? Anything to get your mind off of it. You are in my prayers. Nina
char1048
hope you get the results you want , but the 2 weeks of waiting has got to be agonizing. Good luck and prayers to you. Keep us posted. CHAROLETTE
