Hebbie
You know, in re-reading this thread, I thought of something that happened to me in January on my wedding cruise. The ship only had certain designated areas on board for smoking. Some of the lounges/bars and the casino. I avoided the smoking lounges/bars and couldn't dance up a storm in the disco because of the cloud of smoke hovering overhead, but I couldn't resist the casino one night. I chose a roulette table with no one smoking and started playing. I was doing GREAT (up $200!!) when the guy next to me lit up. I was going to cash in and go, but my friend turned to the guy and asked if he would please put out his cigarette. The look of HORROR on his face was priceless. He groaned "but this is one of the few places on the ship I can smoke..." He was nice enough to put it out, but after 15 minutes I left. I felt GUILTY for keeping his from smoking in "his" place. I felt like if it was a smoker's place, it wasn't mine. I kind of see it this way. That smoke deprives me of doing something I like........but if he couldn't smoke there, he could always go light up somewhere else......I couldn't go gamble somewhere else!!! Rick
I had a long discussion with the owner of the website and it took at least 3 minutes before I informed him he was not to wise in his arguments. Smoking is a choice but a choice that has been funded, aided and supported by the government. I wont start my soapbox now, but, I think every place should be mandatory smoke free except Government building. Government buildings should allow smoking because if they dont, that is truely TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION. Not being able to lawfully perform the activity(Smoking) which is taxed, in the building that was built from those taxes... is Taxation without representation. Maybe if there was some impact on the government (other than population control) they would do something about it. Please, outlaw ephedra because it killed 27 people last year, give me a break. Force seatbelts on everyone but sale cigarettes in every building, terminal etc.... please So basically the only way to handle the use of cigarettes is to eliminate them all together.. That wont happen as we all know... Anyway... sorry to ramble.. Rick
