Bands Battle Karen?s Cancer:

Local musicians stage a tribute for one of Michigan?s best-loved female guitarists

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you were part of the rock music scene in Detroit in the last 20 years, you may

already know the name Karen Lovell?or you would if you heard her play her guitar.

She thrilled fans as one of the few females playing bass guitar in the ?80s and ?90s

with Detroit rock groups as diverse as Split Decision and The Crush.

Karen was recently diagnosed with cancer and is unable to work or play guitar.

Her fellow musicians and friends are honoring her with a musical tribute to benefit

Karen. Her 11-year-old daughter Katie will also appear with The Keaton Project

playing bass guitar - inspired from watching her mother perform and play.

Four local bands will be featured: The Score, (featuring John Ciaravino), Aces High,

and Blues Child, (featuring Matt Kerstein and ?Wild Wayne? Wilkins).

Also performing will be The Keaton Project, featuring Rick Keaton, Oscar Robinson,

Patrick Odle, Marti Laprise - and special guest Karen?s 11-year-old daughter

Katie Keaton playing a special tribute to her mom on bass guitar.

Cover is only $5 for all four bands, and the cover will all go to Karen?s Benefit fund.

It all takes place at Corradi?s, 1090 Rochester Road (between 14 and 15 Mile Road)

in Troy, MI, on Saturday, May 24th from 7 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Phone: 1-248-588-3471.

Come and listen to some great local bands for a good cause in a musical tribute to

one of Detroit?s best-loved female guitarists.
