help getting 501(c)3 status -MI cancer walk

Hi everyone,

We are forming a foundation called Gianni Ferrarotti Lung Cancer Foundation and want to get tax exempt status

I think this has been before, but I couldn't find it. Can anyone give me info on this. How long does it take? My friend downloaded the application-37 pages. We are having a walk on September 18 and want to have our status before then. Is it possible?

Roseanne, I think Katie can give you information on this as she did it not to long ago. I did my own 501c3 application but it was years ago and I am sure things have changed since then (we now have a kinder, gentlier IRS ) The approval didn't take too long and at that time.

You are correct that the info was on here previously, it was in reference to starting LCSC branches in other states if that helps you find it. Good luck.

Cathy, Sorry I forgot to put the time and place. It's at Kensington Park-Kent Lake entrance at 1:00, on September 18.

If you want, I'll send you or anyone else info on it when we get it printed. There's a $10.00 registration fee and $4.00 entrance fee at the gate of the park. Then we send a donor form. The money will be donated to the Karmanos lung fund.

If you or anyone else wants to help with the walk we would gladly accept. E-mail or PM me. I am located in Redford, which is near Livonia.
