Melinda Posted August 29, 2004 Share Posted August 29, 2004 Mark Belanger Celebrity Golf Classic October 11 in Aberdeen, MD Mark Belanger, who played shortstop for the Baltimore Orioles in the 1960s and '70s, was inducted into their Hall of Fame, and went on to become a players' union representative, died of lung cancer in October 1998. He was 54 years old. Now, his son Rob and friends have organized the nation's first celebrity golf tournament in Mark's memory and to raise lung cancer awareness in Aberdeen, MD.
