Mom having trouble with balance memory

Hi all,

Mom has started having trouble with her balance and memory.

She is on neurontin so I hope that she is having side effects from that.

I would appreciate it if you say a prayer so we can get this sorted out.

Thanks and God bless,

Geoff

PS Melinda is on the mend and doing well.

I am sorry to hear that your mother is having problems. It probably needs to be checked out, but I hope it is a reaction of some sort as well. You and Melinda are such a cute couple and have had so much to handle this early in your relationship. I wish you both the best.

Geoff,

Could be chemobrain, or cancer brain...

I'm having memory problems, but can't comment on balance as I've always lacked "grace"...

Make sure her doctors are aware of it, and if she doesn't feel that they are addressing it, find someone who will (my GP ordered the MRI because of memory issues, etc., and she's the one that sent me for follow up with a neuropsychologist).

Here's hopin' it ain't somethin'!

Geoff, I hope she's going to be OK and that it's something simple.

she's so lucky to have such a wonderful son and future daughter in law to look after her and love her. you two are very special young people (OK, that makes me feel old to say).

Keep us posted,

Karen C.

Thanks for your prayers and good wishes for Geoff's mom--they mean so much.

Sorry I haven't responded much lately--y'all are on my mind, even when I don't have the time to "lurk".

We'll keep you posted as soon as we know anything definitive.

You are all in our thoughts and prayers, as well.

Thanks, again.

Hi Geoff and Melinda,

I think that chemo does cause both these problems. Dave now has to walk with a cane to keep his balance and his short term memory is not good. I do hope things will improve. Always thinking of you all, Paddy

hi geoff,

i'm so sorry to hear that your mom's having problems with her memory and balance. i've heard a lot about "chemobrain" and issues with wbr that attribute to this. my mom was taking neurontin for a brief period, and i see that "memory loss or trouble speaking" can be one of the symptoms that the docs really need to know about. please let her docs as soon as possible so that something can be done. meanwhile, you and your family are always in my thoughts and prayers.

God bless,

mj

Geoff,

I'm so sorry to hear of the problems your mom is having. WBR and then potent chemo is a huge assault on the CNS so hopefully things will improve the further away she gets from active treatment.
