Just had Gemzar and Carboplatin yesterday (started a new treatment), perviously I had had Taxol and Carboplatin. Carboplatin was always given 2nd in both instances. Don't know why. Had a allergic reaction to thr Carbo yesterday (won't be having that anymore), had everyone excited again in the infusion room!

Not quite sure if the order matters, but FYI my mom had Carboplatin/Gemzar week 1; Gemzar week 2; week 3 off

I'm asking about the order in which the 2 drugs are given when both are given during the same treatment session ( i.e. gemzar then carbo or carbo then gemzar ). IMO the order shouldn't matter. But, recently I did hear someone comment that it does matter so I thought I'd ask if anybody else had heard anything regarding this.

P.S. FWIW my wife has always received the Gemzar last.

I don't think it really matters. With carboplatin and taxol there is some evidence that the taxol should be given first. I found these articles on carbo/gemzar:

This one suggests no clinical difference with sequence in humans

This one suggests that in petri dishes, gemzar first works better

We usually give gemzar first but I don't think it makes a difference.
