  2. Hi Deb. thanks for your response! Are you going to need to take lovenox for the rest of your life? My oncologist said once I'm in remission then I can stop taking lovenox. Thanks, Sharon Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

  4. Hi Deb. I was diagnosed with Trousseau's Syndrome & NSCLC adenocarcinoma of the lung stage IIIA. I was diagnosed with DVT's in both of my calves and was prescribed coumadin, and sent home. My legs swelled and hurt badly, then I got phlebitis on my arms & legs. I went to the ER several times and I was sent home. My coumadin levels were perfect at first, then my levels were very high. I had chest pains one night, so I went back to the ER in the morning and I was given a CT scan. That's when I found out that I had a nodule on my right lung & my lymph nodes were swollen in my chest. Also, I had 2 blood clots in my left lung & one in my right lung. I was told to take care of the blood clots then in 3 months to get a biopsy of the nodule, and sent home. My legs were swelling and getting bigger everyday. I was in a lot of pain, and pain pills were not working. I ended up not being able to walk. I had to use a wheelchair. I went to see my regular DR and my coumadin level was very high, and my feet were not getting any circulation. She sent me to the ER. She called and told the ER that I was coming and not to send me home. She wanted me admitted to the hospital. I had to have surgery on both of my legs to break up the blood clots. Then lots of tests were ran on me to see if I had a blood disorder. Finally, the nodule was biopsied and the results were positive for adenocarcinoma. Then my lymph nodes were biopsied and were positive, too. I did 6 weeks of radiation & 4 chemo treatments, and next is surgery. I still have issues with m legs. They are still swollen along with my feet & ankles. I have to wear compression hose everyday & I keep my feet elevated most o the time. I give myself lovenox injections 2 times a day. Those injections are very painful and leave knots where I inject myself. This has all been very painful and overwhelming. I feel like my legs will never be the same! 5. I forgot to comment about the nausea. I suffer from that, too. I get chemo treatments every 3 weeks, and about 24 hours after the treatment I experience extreme nausea for 5-6 days! I take prescription nausea meds around the clock starting the night before chemo. I sip on ginger ale & I eat pretzels. Also, mints help, too. I pretty much eat small meals when I can. Talk to your oncologist about the best nausea meds that she can prescribe for you. I take 3 different ones every 4 hours. Avoid any foods that are greasy!!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  6. Hello! I have the same problem with my food going down slow, and I have the feeling of having a lump in my throat. I received 30 days of radiation on my chest, because I have adenocarcinoma of the lung stage 3a, and it spread to my lymph nodes in my chest. So, my esophagus is damaged and it makes eating painful. My radiation doctor prescribed something called triple mix. It's a combination of lidocaine, antacid, & benadryl. You can drink it up to 4 times a day before a meal. It does help. Also, I take nexium to help with acid reflux. You have to eat small meals, and make sure it's smooth and creamy. Mac n cheese, ice cream, yogurt, applesauce & smoothies are easy to swallow. I was told that it can take up to 4 weeks after treatment for this to heal. Talk to your radiation doctor or any nurses and tell them your symptoms. There's also a liquid pain medicine that helps, too. I finished my radiation treatments over a week ago and I still have to eat soft, creamy foods. This is all normal side effects with radiation treatments on your chest, or throat area. I wish you lots of luck with your treatments! I hope you are doing well. 7. Thanks for the responses! I had my last radiation treatment today! Tomorrow morning I will do my 3rd chemo. I've had some side effects from radiation. My food goes down real slow, I can only eat soft foods. Chemo treatments causes nausea & constipation, but it only lasts about 3-4 days. I meet with my oncologist tomorrow. I have a ton of questions for her! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  8. Hi, my name is Sharon. I was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the lung stage IIIA on Valentines day of this year. I had no idea that I had it! On January 6th I was diagnosed with DVT's (deep vein thrombosis) in both of my calves and was sent home with a prescription for coumadin. I started the coumadin and each day my legs progressively became worse. I was in a wheelchair by the end of January. I went to the ER several times in intense pain from my legs swelling. I was prescribed different pain meds and none of them eased the pain. Then I had a pulmonary embolism while on a therapeutic level of coumadin. It was then in the ER that a CT scan showed that I had a nodule on my right lung and my lymph nodes were swollen. I was told this could possibly be cancer, but I needed to get my blood clots under control and then make an appointment in about 3 months for a biopsy on the nodule. I went to my regular doctor who set up an appointment for a biopsy in 2 weeks. In the meantime, the blood clots in my legs had spread throughout my body and I was hospitalized. I had so many tests ran on me for blood disorders, and genetic disorders, etc. finally, I had a biopsy on the nodule on February 10th and on Valentines day I received the results! I'm a 42 year old non-smoker and single mom of a 7 year old boy. This news was devastating to say the least. Then my lymph nodes were biopsied and they were malignant, too. Also, the surgeon was unable to remove my lymph nodes because of their location in my chest. I was diagnosed with Trousseaus Syndrome brought on by cancer. That explained the blood clots, and the blood thinner that I was on did not work. So, I started lovenox injections twice a day, and the blood clots started to improve. And I had to have surgery on both legs. Anyways, my oncologist and surgeon decided that I start treatment right away. 6 weeks/30 days of radiation and 4 treatments of chemo 3 weeks apart. My chemo is alimta & carboplatin. I have one day of radiation left & 2 more chemo to go! I'm very nervous about my PET scan to see if my lymph nodes have shrunk enough to have them removed, and I will have surgery to remove the nodule. This has all been very scary for myself and my family. That's my story! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
