    Question...

My dad had a lobe removed from his left side 2 weeks ago. Surgeon noticed that he had a few tiny masses that just touched the outside of his lymph node. Has anyone ever had cancer reach their lymph nodes and had a positive outcome in the end? Dr. says it hasn't reached his bones or anything yet. (bone scan) and a CAT scan didn't reveal any other cancer. I'd love to hear some personal experiences with this if anyone has gone through it. He's stage 2b.
  3. Just got back from the hospital and he's doing 100% better than yesterday. He's out of isolation, up and walking around and probably out tommorrow. What a difference a day can make. Has an appointment with a Dr. on the 21st to discuss chemo options.
  4. My dads still in the hospital. I guess thats the best place for him if he's sick. I can't help but wonder if the other hospital should have kept him longer than 2 days if he had half his lung removed. The cat scan showed a small amount of fluid in his lung so he's on antibiotics. He's still in some pain from the incision and has a hard time getting comfortable and sleeping. He's been at the hospital since Saturday and they still can't tell him for sure whats wrong. Pretty scarey stuff.
  5. We took him to emerg yesterday and they admitted him. He has an infection in the lung he had operated on. They've got him on antibiotics and in isolation. I'll be going to see him shortly. Hope all is well.
  6. I posted on here a few weeks ago for the first time. My dad had a chest Xray and a mass came up on it. He had surgery last Wednesday (Nov. 28th)to remove the mass. When the surgeon got into his lung there were a few more tiny masses. Half of his left lung was removed. There were also a few tiny masses on the lymph node which were removed. This is not good from what I understand. He starts Chemo in January but the Dr's are optimistic. He was only in the hospital for 2 days after the surgery. This worries me. He's been out for a week now and today he's developed a fever today so I hope thats Ok. Some days are good for him, others not so good. He's been diagnosed as stage 2b. I'm still worried all the time about him.

    Hi

Hi I'm here because my dad may have lung cancer and I'm really scared for him and our family. He went to the Dr. last week and had a scan for something else and the recommended a chest Xray from something they saw on the scan. The chest X Ray came back with a mass in his lung. He is scheduled for tests and an operation for removal in a few weeks. I have no idea what all of this means. There were no symptoms, just a coincidence that he had the scan done for something else. A chest XRay a year ago was clean. He's quiet and doesn't seem to want to talk about it but it's all I can think about. How do you let this not completely consume you? My moms worried, we're all worried. He smoked all his life, until now, but otherwise healthy. What can I expect over the next few weeks?
