  1. Hi Natalie,

I know you didn't mean to get anyone depressed. It's great that they

are doingv these clinical trials. Thanks for your good wishes. I hope

your mom has the same. That is the combo of chemo I had taxol/carboplatin. It did wonders for me and I hope it will do the same

for your mom. I quit smoking 14 years prior to the diagnosis.

I'm going to keep a real positive attitude going. All doctors will tell

you the same thing that is most important in fighting this awful thing.

There was a time when there was a spot on your liver, which was a death

sentence and now I see people being completely cured of it. We all need

each other on this board. It's the best resource I have found and

    encouragement.

  2. Natalie,

You were right, don't read if you don't want to know the statistics.

I know the statistics, but I sank into a depression.

I am a Stage IV Adenocarcinoma nsclc and I know these are just

statistics. I've had chemo and my right lung removed 1/02.

I've been in remission since August, 02 and other than getting short

of breath and getting tired, I feel great. I'm glad new treatments are

being tried all the time. We must be optomistyic. Each person is

different and no one but God knows when we will leave. Think

    positive.

  3. Hi Dave,

Dave you have always been so supportive. I feel bad that you feel

so down. You were the onewho was always so inspirational to all of

us. The chemo sucks, but we need it to keep us alive. If you still

want to live to be an old fart and out golfing that's what must be done.

I drank 8 glasses of water starting the day before chemo and including

chemo day and 6 days after I drank 8 glasses per day. You have to get

those dead cells out. Ask you oncologist about meds to help you out.

    Good Luck and God Bless

    Marsha

  4. Hi Fresca,

I am also stage IV adenocarcinoma nsclc. I recently visted Tucson,

As. in April. My ankles were swollen I had trouble breathing. Before

my right lung was removed, I visted Tucson often and never had a

problem. My girlfriend, who is a diabetic her legs really swelled up.

I got really scared, because my ankles started swelling when the cancer

was first diagnosed. I called my oncologist and he said it was probably

the altitude. We had also gone to Sedona. I'm fine now. What does

her oncologist have to say about this. Keep your spirits up. Per haps

another type of treatment could be recommended to her, check with him.

God Bless you and your mom,

    Marsha

  6. Hi Ada,

I am so sorry the iressa did'nt work. I was really interested in that

therapy if or when it comes back. You surely look wonderful. Were

you in Hawaai in your picture? I know you must feel kind of low, but

don't give up the ship. There are so many things out there that we must

fight to survive and make sure they work.

Please keep us posted on your progress.

  7. Dear Mrs. Mike,

I am so sorry to hear about Mike, but glad that he went peacefully.

You two were both so brave. You have my deepest sympathy.

You can always remember one thing, you did everything possible

to beat the odds, but God had a better plan.

God Bless You and keep giving you strength.

  9. :Hi Rick,

So so glad you got this up and running. I started to panic. I'm computer illiterate anyway, and this board means an awful lot to me and the other

users. You are doing a great job.

    God Bless,

    Marshalol:

  10. HI Gail,

I have posted here under general before. Do not give up hope, I was

diagnosed withStag 11B 12/01. Removed entired right lung. Was told

no chemo follow up necessary. April, 2002 discovered lump on my neck.

Diagnosed with Stage 1V- Adenocarcinoma, nsclc. Shock and despair

followed. I did not want chemo, but felt so bad, that onocologist said

it would only get worse. Started chemo (taxol /Carboplatin) once

every three weeks for a six course treatment. Last treatment Aug. 28,2002. Still in remission and doing fine. Radiation is considered only

pallative treatment when it spread to lymph nodes as in my case.

Your dad is receiving top of the line treatment. There is hope. Hope

    this helps you out.

    God Bless You,

    Marsha

    Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to share my good news again. I had a bone scan last

week, today I had a ct scan ofchest and abdoman and all is still clear.

I am so happy and really greatful. I asked my doctor about a vacation

in January of 2004 and he told me to go ahead and plan it. It just

feels so wonderful to know there is soooo much hope and we can do

well. Thank you for listening and just wanted to share my joy with you.

    God Bless All of You,

    Marsha

dx 12/02, right lung removed 1/02. Diagnosed 11B. 4/02 spread to

lymph nodes. 6 Taxol/Carboplatin treatments. Last treatment

    8/28/02. Been in remission since.

  12. Hi Myrna.

As you can see I am no computer whiz. I hope you get this message

this time. Tell your sister not to get discouraged. They are really

making headway with lung cancer. When I was diagnosed I didn't want

chemo, but my ocologist persuaded me to take it and it really wasn't

bad. They give you things so you will not get nautious. They have also

just approved the drug Iressa, which was not approved when I was

diagnosed. We all have our depression days, but think good thoughts

and have a very positive attitude. Hope you get this.

God Bless you and your sister,

    Marsha

  13. Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to share my good news with you. Diagnosed with Adeno

carcinoma on 12/01. Had pneumonectomy of right lung 1/9/02. Spread

to lymph nodes by 4/02. Had six rounds of chemo of taxol and carbp-

platin. Ending Aug. 28.02. So far all is good. No signs of spreading.

Every 3 months scans. So in June we will see if all is still well. I was

so elated last Thurs. when oncologist said all was well. I'd like to see

some post with people who have this type of Stage IV ncslc that has

spread to lymph nodes and how long they have been in remission.

Thanks for listening and God Bless all,

    Marsha
