  1. Hi Michelle , I've been taking Tarceva since 06. I started out 150's after a year went to 100's everyother day because of the side effects .I stayed stabled till acouple months ago now cavatation is happening something new but I'm still fighting . I use Lindi skin care face serum for the dryness and rash WWW.LINDISKIN.COM . It helps me but I know it don't help everyone. I'm sorry for your mother but tell her to hang in there.

  2. Its been awhile since my last visit. I was doing o.k. but in the past month its went down hill alittle. I have had pneumonia still taking breathing treatments of Xopenex for that. My last C.T. shows a form of cavatation increasing but still taking Avastin . The last blood work shows my liver count is up so not taking Tarceva for now. Tomorrow doing more blood work to see if that helps. and on a personal note my marriage is on the rocks because of all the stress of this CANCER. Right now life kinda sucks for me!! Sorry for the pitty party but I figure there is someone out there that understands.

  3. Hi everyone I'll try to explain it better. My onc tells me medical terms in very simple ways so I can understand. The CT shows 2 black spots 11mm & 14mm which is a place where the lining is very thin caused from the cancer. In the center of the black spot is a white spot which is the cancer going away from the inside out. He said the black spot usally shrinks when the cancer shrinks but mine is growing. His guess is the meds is attacking the good cells which is keeping it from healing. If the lining gets to thin it could hemorrhage. He's consulting other onc & a CT in 6 wks and we'll go from there! I'm sorry I don't have medical terms, they just go over this countrygirl's head. Thanks for your help everyone!!!

  4. Hi Carole,

I tried acupuncture once. On the advice of friends. As I was laying there cold with all those needles all over I realized something THIS WAS NOT FOR ME!!!! You are suppose to enjoy it and relax but it totaly terrified me. I'm a BIG BABY when it comes to needles!!!! I'm not doing that again unless my Onc says that I have to do it. I hope that it helps others that isn't such a big baby.

  5. Hi Bucky,

I've been on those two combo for two yrs now. It's seems to be helping. Avastin causes bad headaches. I take pain meds for that. Fatigue and headaches are my biggest complants. Hope it goes well for you and the cancer goes away! Hang in there!

  6. Hi everyone! I went for my 6wks Avastin and CT yesterday. The news was that the tumors are going away from the inside out but its leaving holes in the lung. He said not many do this but he has never seen anyones holes keep growing after the tumors seem to be gone. Has anyone else heard of this??? I getting alittle nervious but I'm still fighting and smiling everyday!!! I hope everbody has a good day everyday!!

  7. Thanks for the tips!! I heard from my onc. today they're going to try Ritalin under depression and confusion not fatigue. My nurse says its all in the wording of appeals. I don't care how they word it as long as its pays because all I know is that it helps me with fatigue. I know Ritalin and Adderall is used the same but do they get the same results?? Thanks for listening !! Fighting cancer is hard to do anyway you look at it.

  8. I had to quit working in Sept. 07 . I was on FMLA at my factory and it ran out so they recommended that I start SSD or I would get fired for missing. I felt that if I ever quit that the cancer has won but being off has put a different light on things. Eventhough I miss everybody there because they gave me such huge support I love knowing what time I have left ( 50 yrs I hope) is with my family and doing what I want to do. In my mind I'm still in control not the cancer. That probably sounds crazy but it gets me through the day.

  9. I 've been taking Adderall for fatigue. It seems to be working alittle but the bad news is my insurance doesn't cover it because it isn't FDA approved for cancer. Its just for A

ADHD . Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get it approved.

  11. I'm so sorry for your sis. I would look into a second opinion. With me the first onc said he didn't see anything on the ct's. I wasn't satisfided so I went to a cancer clinic. There they said it was in both lungs and didn't know how the previous onc missed it. You have to have faith in your onc because you have to much other stuff to worry about. Thats just my opinion. Hang in there!!

  12. We have a family tradition that has been going on for generations. When the corn crops come in the whole family gets together and starts a assembly line. The men picks the corn in wooden baskets and takes them to the cousins (7- 14 yr olds). They shuck and get the silks off. Meanwhile grandma's are getting the jars ready for cannning. Moms and aunts are setting in there iron chairs with knives cutting the corn off the comb. Now picture it, Men covered with dirt and corn stalks, kids covered with shucks, moms covered with corn from head to toe and grandma's covered with sweat. There's nothing modern here just wooden baskets, wash tubs, old wooden knives, canning jars and a whole lot of love. Thats the best sweet corn ever made. I love memories!!!!

  13. Hi everybody, I've been looking for awhile. I haven't read anything about what to say to family if they will not listen to your wants if the worst should happen. I know to keep a positive outlook on this but I would feel better if they knew how to do the little things I do like were to go for parent teacher conferences, where the Ins. policys are and how to pay house bills online. Everytime I bring the subject up they say let's don't talk about it because it's not going to happen. By the grace of God I hope it doesn't but I want them to be prepared. How do I get them to talk???

  14. I'm a country girl.Around here you learn to drive in the hay fields. I think I was about 11. My grandaddy taught me in a old chevy with a straight shift on the column. I could bearly see over the steering wheel. After I ran over a few bales of hay and getting yelled at by my whole family. I quickly learned how to drive. I hated driving that truck. When I was 15 I got put to throwing up the hay on the wagon and my 12 year old cousin got to drive. BOY did I miss driving that old truck. That was the good old days!!!

  15. I'm so sorry for you all. I have a best friend she's my sister. When times get rough she holds my hand too. Now a days I listen to a song called "When I Get Where I'm Going" by Brad Paisley. I told her to really listen to it because it puts a different light on what I'm going through. My heart goes out to you and your family.

  16. Hi Anne, In 04 I had chemo for 3 months then went back to work after 3 more months. I needed to work because my husband is self employed and I covered the insurance at my factory. I had disability pay at work for 6mths. In 06 cancer came back. I went on Tarceva/Avastin. I filed for FMLA (FAMILY MEDICAL LEAVE ACT) at work because I missed at least 2 to 3 days because of the treatments.

I felt as long as I worked and tried to keep a normal life the cancer isn't going to win. The FMLA ran out,I had to go on government disability and stop working because it got to be to hard. Now I'm thinking the time I have left I want to spend it at home doing the things I want to do. I know what we're going through is like a rollercoaster ride. The best thing to do is to hang on!!!! I try to laugh and smile everyday cause lifes to short. Thats the way I think today tomorrow it might change! Best wishes!

  17. We live 13 miles out of town. I told my husband if gas goes any higher we would hookup the team of mules and wagon we have and go to town. He laughed but I was serious. I've never been to Wal-Mart in a wagon before I bet people would laugh but think of the gas we would save!

  18. Hi Anne,

I've been taking Tarceva for awhile now. I wouldn't leave the house because my face looked so bad. The american cancer society sent me a face wash called "LINDI" WWW.lindiskin.com. I don't use it but every other day but it works for me. I put on consealer and base makeup from "MERLE NORMAN COSMETICS". Everyone says I look great and I don't even look sick.Which makes me feel better even if I'm feeling really bad that day. It might not work for you I know everyone responds different to treatments. I hope I have helped alittle. Hang in there.
