Here's mine:
Just when all my hair started to fall out, my vacuum cleaner croaked!
What's yours?
Without humor where the heck would we be?

What they said - you're alive; you're a survivor.
My mother-in-law has/had? non-hodgkins lymphoma. They new it for 2 yrs while it remained quiescent. Then it flared up and she underwent chemo. After 6 months they gave her "maintenance" chemo- much lower dose - and she tells us she is all finished with her treatment. So. I agree, the term is confusing.
But I kinda know what your going through. My last ct scan showed no cancer outside my lung. (I was dx 3b) They said' "If it acts like a horse, we treat it like a horse."Chemo,rad...) But NOW they're acting like it mighta been a zebra!
It's such an inexact science (and soooo underfunded)even they probably don't know for sure. I've been told that cancer treat is as much art as it is science. One thing is for sure - they know more than me and they want the best for me and we all just do the best we can! And, of course, I always think of a dozen questions/clarifications after I've left the dr.s office.
Bottom line: do you trust your doctors? If you don't; get a 2nd opinion (3rd, 4th...)

The love and caring of friends and family is one of the best antidotes I know. Studies show that even when a person doesn't know that prayers are being said for them they still reap benefit - so I'll do that to. (my mom sicced the Quakers on me and look how well I did!)
I don't know how open-minded your Dad is but I used some cds for self healing and fighting cancer from within. I think they really help. If you want to know more let me know - not trying to advertise or sell stuff.
It's great the Dr.s still want to fight the disease; I hope your dad still wants to, too. Depression is tough to beat - I have done that battle, too.
Best wishes

I met w/my oncologist yesterday re the results from last week's ct scan. (A long week to be sure) The ct scan shows no evidence of lymph node involvement. Amazing. He even said that no one has ever been able to palpate or find the upper ones and they don't really even know that there was ever cancer there! My primary tumor has shrunk by almost 50%
I have an appt. next Thurs. with my excellent thoracic surgeon who may order a PET scan. Sometimes he goes in for surgery and finds nodal involvement and doesn't do the surgery. I like to know all sides of a thing.
So I have already celebrated with my glass of wine and I am going to celebrate some more on Saturday night with my wonderful husband.

Being patient and living with uncertainty is becoming a
normal part of my life. I think it forces us to live in the present. That's a good thing.
That being said, I had a doctor who took more than a month to tell me she something on my chest x-ray and to get a ct scan. She took another month to tell me I should have a PET scan. That woman is no longer my Dr.
I don't really know what is an acceptable waiting time with this disease. We only know that there is something going on inside us that should be stopped NOW!
I hope it all turns out to be something other than LC w/your Mom - it sure happens. It happened w/my neighbor. He had that fungus thing. It happened w/my Dad - just scarring from some other illness.
Hoping for the best.

FYI - He could be right about the vicodin causing vomiting. It happens to my mother, too. The only thing that doesn't make her really sick is darvon.

I, too, will hope for back trouble. I've had it for years but at least I know how to treat it (work the abs!). I just know they will fix you right up.
Wishing you the best,

I am SO glad you are finally getting to see a Dr. (((Patti)))
I have to say, your situation made me very angry and I can only imagine the frustration you must have felt. I always thought that Colorado was a fairly enlightened state!
I know my oncologist donates a certain amount of time and chemo drugs. I've heard the nurses talking about it. Perhaps there's someone like that where you live.
Hopefully now you will receive the treatment you rightfully deserve.

I know a little bit of what you're feeling. I had a really slow doctor - took more than a month to tell me about the chest xray. Took another month to tell me about the ct scan. She's not my doctor anymore.
Could you try fainting on the sidewalk by the main entrance? A nasty lawyer letter?
I could say a lot of bad things about NY state but we sure do treat people w/out insurance better than CO! (And I pay the taxes to prove it.)
I've noticed that some people are better at making the system work than others. How do they learn to do that? Are there any advocacy programs in CO?
Wish I could help more but here are some hugs
((( ))).

Wow, Carol - we are very similar. I hope my treatments are successful as yours have been. How long did it take you to recover from your surgery?

Hi all. I think I figured the profile thing out - hopefully my history will show up now.
Thank you, Ned, for sharing this link with me. It does help to see others fighting and doing well. It helps to see that I have a future. I had focused so much on this disease that I forgot to think about tomorrow. And the next day.
I do have a few questions
First: What does BAC stand for.
Second: What is the significance of differentiation in the pathology of cancer cells. My cancer is moderately differentiated.
Third: Does anyone know if there is anything I can do to raise my blood counts? Diet? Supplements?
I want to do everything I can to prepare for surgery.
All suggestions cheerfully entertained.

Hello, my friends call me Jackie. I've been on this journey since January when I was diagnosed. Since then I have been trying to stay upbeat, work on the body, spirit and diet. I try to learn all I can and hook up with others like myself. It has been wonderful reading all of your posts and stories. It has helped silence that tiny voice in the back of my head that keeps trying to tell me negative things. This is a really great website.
Thank you all,
JackieM
Getting to Know You - April 23 - EEEEEEEK!

Ignore it.
The spiders and I have an understanding. As long as they stay off my physical person they get to live. Spiders eat other bugs so I figure they earn their living. Of course, if my cat, Digger, sees them - all bets are off. (We need a smiley that signifies disgust.)
We don't have many poisonous critters in the northeast. If I lived outwest or downsouth, I might feel differently.
