Dearest Members, Lost my oldest sister to lung cance March17, was terminal lived for 11 1/2 months. She was in terrible pain , and Hospice could only come 2 times a week . The doctor came to visitation at her funeral, he admired her for the fight and sweetness. What a terrible disease. I will miss her greatly, and keep her in my heart. I would like to thank you all for all the love and support and knowledge you have given me. I will say a prayer for ALL of you, every night .GOD BLESS AND TAKE CARE Teardrop

Dear Members, I'm writing to let you know what's going on with my sister. Since I'm far away I get pieces of information. She is still going to radiation, but missed two days, to weak to walk. She is not eating, but drinks milk,she doesn't like Ensure. She throws up every so often. Hospice came, will be coming every other day I believe. She had a blood test, what is that for, to see if she needs blood, or they won't give it to her no more. She had a headache this morning, could be from the cancer cells in her brain, got med for the pain, will be picked up by van,with wheelchair, to bring her to radiation. Once she has radiation, she is sleepy, but next day alert and talks. I feel that her husband should get more information on her care, as I learned so much from Hospice site, and uk hospice site. She is with us,and I talk to her everyday and she is ,in no pain. I'm learning everyday of the process, right now I'm cherish the time with her and love to hear her voice,and comfort her with all my Love. Dear Members, My sister is taking alot of medication. My question is she is terminal ,do you have the names of medication to fight the cancer cell in pill form besides Tarceva, that kill the cancer cells, as she has a list at home my sister can check to see if they are on it. She is doing well today, except eating not enough, do they have a medication to help her with this (like feeding tube subtitute in pill form) and what is the name? And doesn't a attitude of being positive around her, might bring her back, from being hopeless. As some of her children aren't around for her even though they live close. I hope she doesn't feel depress over that. I feel that could make her to give up to, as they see the material things, as they are poor, and don't show any affection toward her. Sincerely Teardrop

Dear Members, My sister is not eating do to fear of throwing up, is there anything that can be given her or said to her? Is it wrong for me to hang onto a miracle with radiation still given, will this kill the cancer cells ALL over her body or just in her brain OR control pain? Is there a easy way of giving her the pills to take ,can crushing them be ok, and put in teaspoons of tea. All I have is HOPE, and God only knows. Sincerely, Teardrop

Dear Members, I went on the weekend to see my sister, stayed in hospital with her. She was in pain so they gave her pain meds. IV feeding, as she doesn't eat to much,steriods. I really can see now what the BEAST does to someone. She had pains in lower back, gave meds we went to sleep for 1-1/2 hrs she woke up in pain in leg so gave pain meds again.Had eyes closed during the day, heard everything family was saying,not sleeping. Found out Monday will gave her for 15 days radiation, no chemo now. Saids she wants to die,because of the pain. She was giving away her possessions , while I was there. This evening won't take pills, still in hospital, say they are trying to kill her. I'm so glad she's in the hospital , as everyone is asking her to take the pills and she won't listen. Dear Members, I appreicate all the replies and love. I will tell you what is going on with my sister. She was throwning up, and she wanted to go into the hospital. She could not keep the food down, which is little what she eats,and she drank very little. Hospice care is short handed and would be able to come one day to check on her where she lives, she has a devoted husband who's taking care of her. My sister is getting a nurse through the county for the aged that will come 4 days though. The doctor put her back into the hospital friday 2/13 morning, he's giving her steriods, to build her up . I found out also that she has 6months to 1 year. I know from this site don't believe the amount of time left. She is a fighter, the pain is what getting her. I will be going up, and staying overnight in the hospital to be with her. I also plan on going up, and staying longer than 2 days, next time. What are the steriods for, doctor said he's trying to reverse the cancer. He was going to make his own mixture of chemo to give her, but right now he decided to give her steriods does this also reverse the cancer or boost the body ? It's so hard for me to understand things, could you be kind to explain. Sincerely Teardrops

Dear Members, My heart is open to you caring and prayers for me and my sister. I would like to repeat from previously messages that I told you I live far away. But I plan on seeing her this weekend. Since she is terminal, and doesn't want a second option, I find it hard not to feel differently. Me and my youngest sister found Cancer Center.com, where they take advanced lung cancer, and to call a 1-800 # for her area, I know my sister doesn't want to travel or change her doctor, She told me this is her wishes, how do I reach her , should I ask her again, she was firm about it though. OR do you think my HOPE should not be so high, as the cancer is spreading Primary Lung cancer, and secondary Bone, radiation on knee bone, has in spine, and last night pain in breast. The doctor is giving her radiation one more time, and then he's going to try a different Chemo. Do you think this is Tarceva, a chance for hope? Or do they give this to you sooner. Dear Members, My sister is terminal and I really could use your support at this time. I read about Hospice, and the process , I just want you to know they are controlling the PAIN as much as possible.without Hospice right now. My sister was so well yesterday, then was in severe pain, that they had to increase her morphine. She was up all night, finally is sleeping now. She is due for Radiation , they are trying to fit her in. I don't know if I belong here at this point. But I really need some friends right now. I need to know if she will come out of this yet,I am so lost right now. I try to read up on this with the internet, some things are hard for me to understand I try though. Hospice isn't there yet, she just has severe pain and the BEAST is letting her know he's there. Will she be able to communicate with us still. Please help me to understand more, can they relieve her pain and will she come back and be as normal as she can be. Love Teardrop PS Can I come here if I need you?

Dear Members, I hope this is the place to come for guidence. My sister is not eating and she just is not eating enough, just picking. Can the person overcome this, or does she need family to lovingly guide her. I am far away, and I'm wordering if a nurse sent home with her, will guide her. I know this eating problem is up to her system, that her body will take the posions out, by drinking I think, I could be wrong,please help me. She has primary lung cancer and secondary cancer cells on knee. I just feel she didn't follow,what to eat because of chemo that made her lung cancer stable, and then found out due to painful leg, she had cancer cells in her leg, now her knee only. I feel so helpless in not being there when she started chemo, I realize now the chemo was making her pick at food, and know she lost alot of weight when its needed to cope with the radiation she got. Please help me to understand what I can do and not be able to do. She is 65,was in critical care due to heart, and now she is in progressive care unit stable. Sincerely Teardrop

Dear Members, I don't have information needed to give you, as my sister doesn't want to know everything. I guess this is her choice and I need to accept it. As you know she has Primary Lung cancer, secondary bone cancer,lung cancer is stable, but she was given radiation and I believe chemo for cancer in her knee. Ihe knee just pains her alttle now, I don't know if this is due to meds or the radiation. She has heart trouble due to all the meds,radiation,chemo,depression. She was in critical care,she now is in proggressive care unit, and is stable, she is 65yrs old.SHE lost alot of weight . She is on IV nutrition and said she ate something today. The most important question is if she can gain her weight back and come out of this. The pills don't work to get her to eat more, but she said she ate today. I believe she nibble which is a good sign. Do you think the nurse in the unit will give me more information then what I'm getting from her. As I'm worried sick, and not knowing , and pieces of information is given. Love Teardrop

Dearest Members, Thank you for your replies and information. My sister got out of the hospital Saturday 1/24. She will getting more radiation treatments,5 to 7 more and found out the cancer cells died in the spine, but still have in leg, bone marrow. She is in pain and not positive about getting better. She says she's dying and not eating. But my youngest sister told her she's not dying and will get better as the cancer is not terminal. It scares me, in what she is saying, with this way of thinking will she come through ok. She's in alot of pain, and doesn't believe anyone. All I can do, is call and comfort her, and say alot of prayers. .They wanted to send a nurse home with her and since she is on Medicare, how much would she had to pay, as she and her husband say no, as he will be taking off work to be with her until she is off the radiation. Dear Members, I hope I'm in the right place when asking these questions. My sister has lung cancer stable, white blood cells normal. But through all this cancer cells spread to brain, died in skull after chemo. She has in spine few cancer cells, radiation about 4 times given, BUT was in pain when taking chemo in back and leg,doctor found cancer cells a few in spine. But never thought was in leg, thought arthritis. Took test found nothing. Sister was in constant pain and unable to walk on leg, doctor gave pain pills. Finally took test in hospital, since she was omit due to unbearable pain. RESULTS : cancer cells in leg(knee to ankle swollen in front only. Will be giving radiation,first one today, and may give chemo. She 64 yrs old, and lost weight, NOT EATING. Red blood cells low, gave blood because of not eating. Will the outcome be good, in this day and age and knowledge and medication for her leg. Please give me hope as she will be able to walk again. I am lost with little information as I'm far away, and the doctor only talks to her and her husband. And he can hold so much, and not ask the right questions. Thank you for your reply back, and the information. My sister lost the cusion between her spine in a couple of areas that the doctor inserted some cusion, the pain is in her back and one leg. The doctors thought with this insertion she would not be in such pain. The doctors said the pain was from her spine with no cusion and cancer cells. They intervense feed her, will she pull through without eating herself, she eats very little,not hungry. It's a normal thing to not to be hungry going through this I know. Thank you again. Dear Members, Sister has lung cancer,which is stable,but has active cancer cells to back (a few) in spine. Doctor is giving her radiation for 14 days,( she is in alot of pain) thats why they recommend radiation also because of active cancer cells. Does the radiation relieve symptoms and Also kill the cancer cells? Is bone cancer cells controlled easily, if there are a few? Teardrop

Dear Members, Sister has 3b lung cancer,squamous had 6 rounds of chemo stable. Will rest 1 month,65 yrs old NSCLC. Anyone went through this, and got good results from when went back on chemo? Wanting to not eat have something to do with cancer, or stopping chemo you don't want to eat so much or is it both? Is it normal lossing weight while going through this,or does this mean she's doing bad? Is their a pill to make her eat more, or I should I not worry so much. She has diabetes, and lymph node measures 1.4 now after chemo was 1.5 before. Took Taxol/Carboplatin, low dose. Please give me feedback,and if you need more information let me know. Love, Teardrop

SandraL, Thank you for the reply back it is greatly appreciated. Does anyone else on this site have what my sister has pleural effusion,she has diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, and collaspe right lung. I would appreciate any more information on the outcome of this disease, she is 66 years old. The cough she has goes away after the 3rd week of her chemo, does that mean a good outcome. It's cold where she lives and it snowed, could that make her cough more. DOES it mean the Chemo doesn't help if she still has a cough? Love Teardrop and God Bless All , Thank you again SandraL

Dear SandraL, Thank you so much for the reply back. I looked up Pleural Effusion and my sister may have this. She had pneumonia, then nsc lung cancer and spots in her brain that died due to the chemo. She also has a collaspe lung and cancer in her lymph nodes. She was told by the doctor that she has rheumatoid arthritis, he thought was cancer in the bones at first. She will get a CT scan in two weeks to find out the outcome of the chemo she was getting. As she took her last dose of chemo, and I'm praying the cancer doesn't grow and die or go to sleep. She has a cough is it from the chemo or pleural effusion? I have been here before, my sister has lung cancer and taking chemo, 10/24 will be her last one, as she is getting a CAT scan to see what the chemo has done to the cancer. Has anyone from this site, have cancer wrapped around the lung]? She has NSLC.I need to know how well she will do as she can't have it taken out or it will spread. Thank you for your replies, and your kindness, I would like to answer some questions. Sister has husband that supports her, and has her daughter-in-law, go to Chemo with her. Daughter-in-law talks to doctor, but doesn't ask questions, only if it's bad, and doctor told her she will be ok. The information I got from my sister is the tumor is on right lung with branches wrapped around it. Also it's treatable, and 5 years may come back. The minute tumors in her brain are gone due to Chemo. And the lung is collaspe. I will get pieces of information as time goes by. Love Teardrop God Bless All
