  1. I've taken my first gemzar/vinorelbine treatment today on a 3 week on and 1 week off schedule. Maybe my age or your mom's diabetes are factors for the 2 vs. 3 week schedule. Does any one have experience with gemzar? My onc. said it was highly tolerated. Please seek a 2nd opinion for your mom. Nothing reasures like confirmation. God Bless, Dave
  2. Hey folks. I had a CT scan yesterday. My onc. was out today so his nurse called to say, there is no change in the primary tumor size however, the mass has changed density. It has hardened some. Is this good or not? Also there are no new lesions. These were chest pix only. Still on track for surgrery if no traces of this d___ disease are found outside the chest after the third chemo 10/16/03. Can any one comment on the tumor density? Love to you all and God Bless, Dave
  3. Kim, I too was diagnosed as non-operable 6 weeks ago. However, a second opion revealed the lymph nodes to be operable. So, do the work. ask the questions and never forget that you're already blessed to have your mom today.
  4. I'm still cramping today after my second round of carbo/taxol Thurs. 9/25 It is getting better however. God Bless, Dave.
  5. Please consider a 2nd opinion. You'll feel better knowing. God Bless, Dave
  6. Lord, I pray for what is best for Susan and what is best for her mother. In Jesus name, Amen.
  7. It may be time to tell mom the truth. Being a survivor she has a message to tell, her God to thank and family and friends to thank for their thoughts and prayers. Give her pencil and paper to write her thoughts on. Take her to a cancer ward to see those less fortunate and in need of prayer. How about a pastor visit to kick start her? I'm new to this and no expert so how about some input from the rest of you? Have you ever heard the phrase, " be careful what you pray (wish ) for? The moral of the story is not to ask for what you what for your mom but, ask God for what is best for her. It was a hard lesson to learn for me but that's another story. Hope to have helped. Sorry if I didn't. God Bless, Dave W.
  8. I too will add Tim to my prayers tonight. God Bless, Dave W.
  9. That is my reply above folks. Sorry, novice at work.
  10. I'm having a procedure in two hours called an endoscopic ultra sound. This is the result of meeting a thoracic surgeon during a 'second opinion' last week. The pictures will tell if my affected lymph nodes are too close to the esophogus to consider surgery. My onc had not offered this as an option,"always get a second opinion". Has anyone else used this procedure as a diagnostic tool? I've not seen it discussed.
  11. Minnie, I will say a prayer for what is best for you and your mom. Waiting on results of tests is not my favorite thing. God Bless, Dave.
  12. Donna, Actually, I had broncitis that didn't heal with anti-biotics. My primary physcian did a routine x-ray which found a shadow. Long story short, Cat scan, then broncoscopy, then PET scan, confirmed NonSmallCell CarcinomaLungCancer poorly differentiated. First Chemo was Friday of Labor Day weekend, reacted poorly to Compazine, lots of nausea, and vomited. Changed to Zofan. Also see 2nd Opinion post for update. If I had not been diagnosed, I would not know that I am sick. God bless, Dave.
  13. After first round of Carbo/Taxol on 8/29/03, and before continued treatment of Chemo/Radiation, I sought a second opinion at KU MED. The good news is, contrary to onc. opinion, My tumor and lymph nodes may be removable. Pending results of endoscopic ultra sound to determine location of lymph nodes to the esphogus, the thoracic surgeon will consider removal of the left lung and nodes. If ultra sound results are positive, two more rounds of Chemo followed by full body scan to look for mets outside the chest to determine operability. Surgery would be followed by aggressive Radiation. Anyone have any similar experience? God Bless, Dave W.
  14. Hi everybody, I have been reading your posts for a week. Does anybody else have any experience with Feeling Too Good To Be This Sick???
