Prayers and positive thoughts coming your way for Gwen.

Good morning all! It's suppose to get to the middle 90s here today and even hotter later this week.
Bruce - it's a shame that y'all can't get some rain. It always seems like either a place gets too much rain or none. We were in a bad drought a couple of years ago. There is a local lake nearby and you couldn't even launch boats because the lake level was so low.
Bud - you still amaze me the way you ride your bike. I am in awe of you.
Judy - so good to see you opening the air again. You were missed so much while you were gone. I hope you get untethered soon and do very well breathing without your oxygen.
I hope everyone had a nice Memorial Day weekend. We just hung around the house - too hot to be outside.

Stephanie,
What wonderful news. I'm so happy for you. Stable is very good. You're in my prayers also.

1. If walking/cycling is good for your health, the postman would be immortal.
2. A whale swims all day, only eats fish, drinks water and is fat.
3. A rabbit runs and hops and only lives 15 years.
4. A tortoise doesn't run, barely walks & does nothing ..yet lives for 450 years.
And you want me to exercise????

Ah Judy - your post brings tears to my eyes. That song was beautiful last night and that is exactly how I'm trying to live. Take care my friend!

Good morning all! It's 81 here, expected to reach 92. I think North Carolina skipped spring. Katie - I know your son will really enjoy riding with the policeman. And he'll then have bragging rights too! JudyKW - hope your doctor appointment goes well. Bud - I'm so glad you're back to exercising for us.
Hubby has just about decided to install the pool liner ourselves (with help from the grandsons). It would save us about $1200 but it scares me to death because if "we" screw up badly we're screwed! lol Right now we're trying to measure the pool. It sounds easy but it's not, especially when it's over half full of water. You have to measure every slope and the square part in the deep end, etc etc. What fun! NOT!!
I hope everyone is have way more fun than I'm having today.

Before I was diagnosed with lung cancer I had a good life. After I was diagnosed with lung cancer I have a blessed life. I am blessed because I know who truly loves me and who will stand by/with me no matter what. If I had not had cancer would I have known this? I like to think I would have but I took the people who mean the most to me for granted. Never will I ever do that again. I hope that no occasion arises that I have to be one of their caregivers but if it does - please God let me take care of them as well as I was taken care of.
What has having lung cancer taught you?

I'd love to have a drink by our pool - except we opened it yesterday to find that the liner ripped over winter so now we have to have that replaced - to the tune of $2400. Yikes!!! I think it may be a few weeks before the pool will be swimable (is that a word?).
I hope all of you stay safe in all these storms that are all over the US, especially in the midwest. Here - right now - it's just plain HOT.
Annette - I don't envy you with the nephew. And on top of that your mom is still in the hospital and will be there for a while it sounds like. I did read Judy's F.E.A.R. It was so powerful and really makes you think.
Giving a shout out to JudyKW, Bud, Eric, KatieB, Sara, Lilly - sorry if I missed anyone - I have CRS!!
Paulette

Good morning everyone! Judy - it's good to come here and see you opening the air. I hope you're able to get off the oxygen sooner than the doctors expect. I wish you could have been in DC - I would have loved to meet you - and then I wouldn't have been the oldest there (yep - I'm 64 - how did that happen?) Lily - I'm like you. I much prefer a smaller church than the big ones. Katie - how are you this morning? And how did your meeting go last night? Did you end up having to eat that cheesecake by yourself? Bud - Pixie is so cute! She would look good in any t-shirt! lol
I hope everyone has a wonderful Tuesday.

I'm here!! Had a busy day so far - busy for me anyway. Had to go have the dreaded mamogram. Thank goodness that's done for another year. Went to Walmart and the grocery store and had to stop at the hardware/pool supply store to get sand for our pool filter. Hubby is cleaning it out and putting new sand in it before he opens the pool for the summer. Speaking of which - it's too hot here already! 90 today, suppose to be 94 tomorrow and Wednesday! I wanna be back in DC in an air conditioned hotel with food being served all day!! LOL

Hi Heather!
Welcome to our family here. I'm smiling from ear to ear to see you here. For everyone else - I met Heather in Washington DC this past weekend and felt an instant connection (I think because Heather is the same age as my daughter). She is a wonderful young woman and way too young to have to deal with lung cancer.
Take care Heather!

Good afternoon all. I am home from DC - had an awesome weekend!! It was great meeting everyone and hearing their stories and making friends. Got home to a wonderful lunch. My hubby baked a ham and made potato salad and deviled eggs. I think I'll keep him!
Judy - it's great to see you here. I hope you keep improving and feeling better.
Annette - we missed you in DC but understood why you couldn't make it. I hope your mother gets better. How's the nephew?
Eric - a walk up a steep incline?? Are you exercising for us since Bud was in DC?
Paulette
-
Annette,
I'm so sorry about your mom. I hope she improves quickly. You have so much on your plate - I don't know how you do it. I'm sure Katie will understand if you can't make it to DC. I'll be disappointed because I was looking forward to meeting you.

It's 58 degrees here this morning. Wow, Bud, I'm glad I don't have to leave for the airport as soon as you do. I leave my house about 10 am. It takes almost an hour to reach the airport. But NC isn't nearly as far from DC as Texas is.
Eric - I sure wih you could join us this weekend. I would love to meet you. I'm looking forward to meeting the others from here that will be there.
JudyKW I sure hope you're doing better this morning.
Y'all have a good weekend!

Judy,
We've all been wondering about and praying for you. I hope they find what is causing your fever and get you well and out of that hospital soon. We miss you.

It's a cloudy overcast Monday here in NC. Becky I hope you finally got some sleep. I, too, haven't flown in a while and am wondering about the security 'frisk' now. I think I'd rather get the body scan - and believe me whoever is looking at my body won't be looking long!! I'm looking forward to meeting you Friday.

1. I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.
2. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.
3. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.
4. There is great need for a sarcasm font.
5. How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?
6. Was learning cursive really necessary?
7. Map Quest really needs to start their directions on # 5. I'm pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.
8. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.
9. I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.
10. Bad decisions make good stories.
11. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.
12. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection...again.
13. I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page technical report that I swear I did not make any changes to.

21. Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever.
22. Sometimes I'll look down at my watch three consecutive times and still not know what time it is.
23. Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, finding their cell phone, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey - but I'd bet everyone can find and push the snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time, every time.
24. The first testicular guard, the "Cup," was used in hockey in 1874 and the first helmet was used in 19 74. That means it only took 100 years for men to realize that their brain is also important.

Annette - I don't know how you handle all the nephew problems and your mother too. Enjoy your time with the grandbabies - you deserve it!

Hi everyone. I don't remember if I've ever opened the windows and let the air in before or not. It's 63 and beautiful here in North Carolina this morning. I hope everyone has a wonderful day today. I'm really looking forward to this coming weekend in Washington DC.

The South ... You gotta luv it
*Alabama*
*A group of Alabama friends went deer hunting and paired off in twos
for the day. That night, one of the hunters returned alone, staggering
under the weight of an eight-point buck.*
"Where's Henry?" the others asked.
"Henry had a stroke of some kind. He's a couple of miles back up the
trail," the successful hunter replied.
"You left Henry laying out there and carried the deer back?" they inquired.
"A tough call," nodded the hunter. "But I figured no one is going to
steal Henry!"
*
**Georgia*
*The owner of a golf course in Georgia was confused about paying an
invoice, so he decided to ask his secretary for some mathematical help.*
He called her into his office and said, "You graduated from the
University of Georgia and I need some help. If I were to give you
$20,000, minus 14%, how much would you take off?"
The secretary thought a moment, and then replied, "Everything but my
earrings."
*Louisiana*
*A senior citizen in Louisiana was overheard saying ... "When the end of
the world comes, I hope to be in Louisiana ."*
When asked why, he replied, "I'd rather be in Louisiana because
everything happens in Louisiana 20 years later than in the rest of the
civilized world."
Mississippi
*The young man from Mississippi came running into the store and said to
his buddy, "Bubba, somebody just stole your pickup truck from the
parking lot!"*
Bubba replied, "Did you see who it was?"
The young man answered, "I couldn't tell, but I got the license number."
*North Carolina*
*A man in North Carolina had a flat tire, pulled off on the side of the
road, and proceeded to put a bouquet of flowers in front of the car and
one behind it. Then he got back in the car to wait.*
A passerby studied the scene as he drove by and was so curious he turned
around and went back. He asked the fellow what the problem was.
The man replied, "I have a flat tire."
The passerby asked, "But what's with the flowers?"
The man responded, "When you break down they tell you to put flares in
the front and flares in the back. I never did understand it neither."
*Tennessee*
*A Tennessee State trooper pulled over a pickup on I-65. The trooper
asked, "Got any ID?"*
The driver replied, "Bout whut?"
Texas
*The Sheriff pulled up next to the guy unloading garbage out of his
pick-up into the ditch.*
The Sheriff asked, "Why are you dumping garbage in the ditch? Don't you
see that sign right over your head."
"Yep", he replied. "That's why I'm dumpin' it here, cause it says:
'Fine For Dumping Garbage'."

*You can say what you want about the South, but you never hear of anyone
retiring and moving North.*

Irish Jokes:
Six retired Irishmen were playing poker in O'Leary's apartment when Paddy Murphy loses $500 on a single hand, clutches his chest, and drops dead at the table. Showing respect for their fallen brother, the other five continue playing standing up. Michael O'Conner looks around and asks, 'Oh, me boys, someone got's to tell Paddy's wife. Who will it be?' They draw straws. Paul Gallagher picks the short one. They tell him to be discreet, be gentle, don't make a bad situation any worse. 'Discreet??? I'm the most discreet Irishman you'll ever meet.
Discretion is me middle name. Leave it to me.'
Gallagher goes over to Murphy's house and knocks on the door. Mrs. Murphy answers, and asks what he wants. Gallagher declares, 'Your
husband just lost $500, and is afraid to come home.' 'Tell him to drop dead!', says Murphy's wife. 'I'll go tell him.' says Gallagher.

Into a Belfast pub comes Paddy Murphy, looking like he'd just been run over by a train. His arm is in a sling, his nose is broken, his face is cut, and bruised, and he's walking with a limp. 'What happened to you?' asks Sean, the bartender.'Jamie O'Conner and me had a fight,' says Paddy. 'That little O'Conner,' says Sean, 'He couldn't do that to you, he must have had something in his hand.' 'That he did,' says Paddy, 'a shovel is what he had, and a terrible
lickin' he gave me with it.' 'Well,' says Sean, 'you should have defended yourself. Didn't you have something in your hand?'
That I did,' said Paddy, 'Mrs. O'Conner's breast, and a thing of beauty it was; but useless in a fight.'

An Irishman who had a little too much to drink is driving home from the city one night and, of course, his car is weaving violently all over the
road. A cop pulls him over. 'So,' says the cop to the driver, 'where have ya been?' 'Why, I've been to the pub of course,' slurs the drunk.
'Well,' says the cop, 'it looks like you've had quite a few to drink this evening.' 'I did all right,' the drunk says with a smile.
'Did you know,' says the cop, standing straight, and folding his arms
across his chest, 'that a few intersections back, your wife fell out of
your car?'
'Oh, thank heavens,' sighs the drunk. 'for a minute there, I thought I'd
gone deaf.'

Brenda O'Malley is home making dinner, as usual,
When Tim Finnegan arrives at her door.
'Brenda, may I come in?' he asks. 'I've somethin' to tell ya'.
'Of course you can come in, you're always welcome, Tim. But where's my
husband?'
'That's what I'm here to be telling ya, Brenda. There was an accident
down at the Guinness brewery'
'Oh, God no!' cries Brenda. 'Please don't tell me.'
'I must, Brenda. Your husband Shamus is dead and gone. I'm sorry.
Finally, she looked up at Tim. 'How did it happen, Tim?'
'It was terrible, Brenda.. He fell into a vat of Guinness Stout, and
drowned.'
'Oh my dear Jesus! But you must tell me true, Tim, did he at least go
quickly?'
'Well, Brenda, no. In fact, he got out three times to pee.'
**************************************************************
Mary Clancy goes up to Father O'Grady after his Sunday morning service,
and she's in tears.
He says, 'So what's bothering you, Mary my dear?'
She says, 'Oh, Father, I've got terrible news.. My husband passed away
last night.'
The priest says, 'Oh, Mary, that's terrible. Tell me, Mary, did he have
any last requests?'
She says, 'That he did, Father.'
The priest says, 'What did he ask, Mary?'
'She says, 'He said, 'Please Mary, put down that damn gun..'
**************************************************************
*/AND THE BEST FOR LAST/*
A drunk staggers into a Catholic Church, enters a confessional booth,
sits down, but says nothing.
The Priest coughs a few times to get his attention, but the drunk
continues to sit there..
Finally, the Priest pounds three times on the wall.
The drunk mumbles, 'Ain't no use knockin, there's no paper on this side
either.'

A young blonde was on vacation in the depths of Louisiana. She wanted a pair of genuine alligator shoes in the worst way, but was very reluctant to pay the high prices the local vendors were asking.
After becoming very frustrated with the "no haggle" attitude of one of the shopkeepers, the blonde shouted, "Maybe I'll just go out and catch my own alligator so I can get a pair of shoes at a reasonable price!"
The shopkeeper said, "By all means, be my guest. Maybe you'll luck out and catch yourself a big one!"
Determined, the blonde turned and headed for the swamps, set on catching herself an alligator. Later in the day, the shopkeeper is driving home, when he spots the young woman standing waist deep in the water, shotgun in hand. Just then, he sees a huge 9 foot alligator swimming quickly toward her.
She takes aim, kills the creature and with a great deal of effort hauls it on to the swamp bank. Lying nearby were several more of the dead creatures. The shopkeeper watches in amazement.
Just then the blonde flips the alligator on its back, and frustrated, shouts out, "Dang it, this one isn't wearing any shoes either!"
