rmm17
Im curious if there is any nutritional advice i can give my mom to increase her immunity, decrease chemo/rad symptoms, and help her beat this thing. I'm not looking for crazy concoctions or expensive supplements. Just some sound advice? What has worked for you guys?
Alisa
Melatonin has been known to enhance the effects of chemo and radiation while boosting the immune system (and it helps you to sleep at night, too!). Do a google search on melatonin + cancer and you will get a lot of hits. It can be bought in any health food store. I am on a lot of complementary herbs/supplements, but I was guided as to which I was allowed to take during my chemo treatments, but I don't remember which ones. My protocol was changed after I finished treatment. But I do remember the melatonin.
Ry
Read through the Alternative forum and you should get lots of good stuff-- Hebbie especially posts some good articles.
Connie B
I agree with Ry, but what ever you decide to do, please talk things over with your mom's Onc Doc before you start anything! It's very important that the Doc's know what your doing.
mikes
Check into melatonin and PSK. There are a number of articles including trials on these at: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?DB=pubmed
