Mark Socinski, Professor at the University of Pittsburgh, and Joel Neal, Assistant Professor from Stanford University. The first two podcasts, both including portions of Dr. Socinski’s presentation, are below. One discussed the updated results of continuation maintenance therapy with Alimta (pemetrexed) on the PARAMOUNT trial. This summary now includes data on the overall survival in that study, which demonstrated a significant benefit for the recipients of Alimta as a continuation maintenance strategy. Dr. Lilenbaum has particular expertise in managing lung cancer in elderly and marginal performance status patients. Up to now, his work has largely illustrated that they are not one in the same: elderly patients with a good performance status have consistently done better with more aggressive doublet therapy. Should we treat frail patients differently, or will they follow the same trends as elderly more fit patients who do best with combination therapies?
