She was majorly dehydrated and had high levels of calcium - ONC thinks these were making her feel so bad/confused. Got fluids and zometa today. Hoping it will help

According to my profile, it seems I joined the forum in April 2016 and then promptly forgot about it.  As I was trying to register yesterday it said my email was already in use so knew I must have already joined.  Finally was able to change my password so I'm back.  I'm a 77 year old female dx with Stage 4 NSCLC in December 2015.  I live in a small town in northern Michigan with my husband of 58 years.  We have two children and two grandchildren.

Thank you and I wish you the very very best. My mom is sleeping pretty much all day long. We had to increase her morphine to 180mg per day recently. So unclear if this is related to meds, the disease or the keytruda. Likely a combination. She's also sweating a lot. I just hope we can get in three infusions to see if it's actually working. Sending you my best energy.

    Thank you for your responses.
I am very thankful to have found this forum.
Tylalla, best of luck to you with starting the Keytruda. Please do keep me posted on how you do.
    Happy New Year to all.

Hi Tom, we certainly have both been through a lot. You give me hope though. I'm going to be starting Keytruda at the end of the month. I really hope it works well for me.

    Happy Holidays!

Hello. My name is Michelle and I am new to this forum. I am a 3 1/2 year survivor of non-small cell squamous cell lung cancer, and 1 year since recurrence at stage 4 with mets to my pelvic bone, spine, kidney, a couple lymph nodes, and 2 nodules in my lung again. I've been through chemo twice, radiation, surgery, Opdivo, Tarceva, and now getting ready to start Keytruda.
I take each day as it comes, thankful for another sunrise. I've lost my hair twice, (as well as my eyebrows and eyelashes), but I didn't let it get me down. I just learned how to crochet hats and waited for it to grow back! The side effects have been rough, and they have taken a lot out of me but with the help of a couple great caregivers (my husband and my son, and my puppy), I have managed.
I look forward to reading and sharing with others on the forum!

Thank you, Tylalla!  I feel so very blessed and feel that I was meant to tell my story so that we can spread the word not only for early detection, but in help finding a cure as well.
    Happy Holidays!

    Hello Everyone,
A year ago I received the news no one ever wants to hear. You have Stage 3A cancer. To say my husband and I were in shock is putting it mildly since I have never smoked my entire life. I had absolutely no symptoms. My cancer was found by accident during a CT scan for a totally unrelated issue. Acid Refux saved my life.
After going through surgery, along with chemotherapy and radiation treatment, I am happy to say to say that as of today I am cancer free! I continue to get checked every 3 months for the next 2 to 3 years, but that is okay, I'm alive to get checked.
