  1. Hi Cynthia!

I had an upper right lobectomy in January '05. PLEASE do not be put off by what you believe to be a painful ordeal. For stage 1 you are SO lucky to be offered surgery. Any surgery is no walk in the park, BUT if offered it, TAKE it and run!

You can read my own story in the My Story forum - story by Kasey. Please contact me if you have any reservations. I always say to keep your eyes on the prize and do whatever you can to get there.....the there being NED ~ No Evidence of Disease!

I had a very NASTY tumor. I am so blessed to be ALMOST 5 years out from it. Lung cancer is no walk in the park, BUT does NOT have to be death sentence either. Be proactive and vigilant. Let me know if you need any info.

  2. Yep.......I agree with Susan ~ just keep the good ahead of the bad. Here's hoping that the docs can get you feeling a bit better so you can enjoy that NED report! Don'tcha just love 'im? Puppy got a name? Teddy is asking  !

  3. FORGOT!!!!!!!!!!!! Hey JB ~ maybe there's something wrong with YOUR brain! How could you forget to share such a GREAT report? Way to go, Col! Be sure you make JB get his brain checked now!

    Love,

  4. Well, sistersue......I am doing the 'happy dance' right along with you. What a shot of good news to lift my spirits. Keep on doin' whatever you're doin' and keep on comin' back with great reports for all of us to celebrate!!!!!!

  5. Barbara and Bill,

You guys remind me of pioneers trekking out into unknown territory. You plod along little by little and when varmints and/or any outlaw type become threatening, you circle the wagons and load up the ammo, take aim, ready to take care of business. When the imminent danger has passed, you saddle up and continue on your way. You are an amazing duo!!!!!

My hope is that this turns out the best it can - not sure if it would be surgery or not since I'm not real familiar with this particular scenario. Whatever would be the BEST outcome is what I'll wish for.

Ya know our next lunch is in September, Barb. How far IS it to King of Prussia from where you are? We would all LOVE to meet and support you!

  6. Oh Patti, not much to say right now other than a big DAMMIT! Hope that doesn't get deleted. This crappy disease takes pieces of us bit by bit. And that has nothing to do with progression of the disease. It just takes the REST of us while we try to fight it. I hope you know that I am here trying to just SPIT in its face and hoping it doesn't fly back at me. I am in your corner no matter what. Never had WBR so can't really comment. Just be sure you leave no stone unturned before you reach your final decision. Hope you can feel the support and love ~ I'm ony 1 state away.

  7. Well, Ann, it would have to be a heart. It just seems that so much in life revolves around matters of the heart in some way.

A brain??? I don't think ya really need that at all ~ seems celebrities and politicians do just fine without one. And courage ~ though nice to have perhaps ~ pales in comparison to having heart.

  8. Geez Tammy, I missed this too...........missing a lot here lately :? . I sure hope things went well. Ya know we're all here waiting to hear the verdict! Let us know when you can. In the meantime ~ many good things coming your way from Fred and me.

  10. Oh (((Barbara))) ~ this whole darn journey is something none of us would wish on our very worst enemy. I got nothing to really lift you up this morning and I'm sorry about that. The other day I laid down my sword. Well, I've got it picked back up now just looking for SOMETHING to pierce. Too bad for us that LC seems to be able to weave and bob around it. I've got you and Bill in thoughts and prayers. I only wish there were more I could offer. Remember PA is close by. And I travel. Just say the word for any help. Maybe doing something physical, like traveling to NJ, would make me feel like I was actually doing something. And may the brain be good.

  11. Oh Patti.......I picked up the hints you were giving just waiting for you to be ready to share. Ya know ~ I really thought I was done ~ all used up ~ UNTIL I read your post. Such emotion has just swelled up in me to just beat this damn cancer to a bloody pulp and then stomp on it to boot. I have so many prayers now that have nowhere to go - so, dear friend, they are on the way to you and Nick. We WILL believe that THIS is the protocol that will knock the bast#$d down. Your post made me take a step back and think about how we can NEVER walk away from this fight. That would just make lung cancer laugh even louder. So much love and support are on the way from PA - and since that isn't too far away - it should be there real soon.

  12. The ocean breeze and the sound of the waves is quite therapeutic, Bruce. I can't wait to hear all about it from you when you return. I just love it. As to the rest, well, life is just one big crap shoot. But I'm feeling the dice will roll in your favor, friend. Lots can be happening and not be cancer. I'm hanging onto that and I DO truly believe it. So as Snowfllake said ~ get thee to the ocean and then get thee back here to let us all breathe a sigh of relief that you 'only' have some pneumonis or other terrible malady. Only here, huh, is that a good thing! I'm rooting for ya, Bruce!
