Well I like to say that I am very sorry for all the fellings I hurt on this board. This was not what I was trying to do. Rather find some answers and I don't know maybe vent some. I want all of you to know that I love my family member very much and will do everything I can to help him through this hard time. I was and still am worried about his smoking but I am going to work on just trying to make him happy and see that we as a family come together and help him in any way we can. I know that some of you felt that I hurt your feelings and that is not what I was trying to do and you think that I was just trying to start something on this board well you are wrong really I was just looking for some help but rather I got nasty replys so I guess its not ok to ask something or share my views on something. Maybe it was the way I asked and for that I am sorry but some of you should look back and read what you said to me. It was well lets say rude. You say that I think I am better and who am I to say anything well I am a family member that cares alot. So again I am sorry if I hurt your feelings that was not what I was trying to do. But you guys tried to hurt my feelings and you did. That is the differents between my post and your replys. I would like to say that I am so sorry that yet another person has been hit by this cancer and I hope that your mother will be ok. In closing I would like to say that I will try to do my posts when I am in a better mood and I do not up set this family that I hope I am welcome to join. I am thinking of you all to day and hope that your day is going well

Well I would like to say thank you all for the replys. But not one of them said why it was still ok to smoke when you have Lung Cancer. I love my family member very much and I will always love him but lets all get real He needs to stop smoking just like for example. 1. People that have heart attacks we don't give them fattey foods. 2.People with diabetes we dont give them sugar 3.people with lung cancer we dont give them cigs I know you all say just take him to chemo and be there and support him and what ever eles you all said it was the same thing over and over again. The one thing no one said or came clean with was that they are still smoking and do treatments. Are you ashamed to say who you are in case the people on the board say really that person is still smoking. I say that if the cancer patient is unable to make simple decission as to weather or not to smoke I am here to say are they able to make any decision regarding there care plan. So everyone that answered me except for one man who said he gave it up should I asume you are all still smoking. So let me see how many of you can come clean and tell it like it is. I have read so many things on this board regading so many different things but no one is really talking about stop smoking. You would think it would be talked about alot. I think you guys hide that dirty little secert but then on the other hand you all say nobody cares about this diease well I can see why. I am very caring and I love my whole family but I guess I am the only one who will say it like it is and it is horrible that you all want help and support from your family but you keep smoking. Yes I know it is my job as a family member to be there and care and I do. I don't talk about this to him all day not even once a week but I know he knows what he is doing is wrong. So let me see if I understand everyone that replyed you all think I should just be kind and understanding and not say anything well I guess that is why Lung cancer is the number one killer of all cancer's nobody is talking. If I had to make a choice to live longer or die smoking there would be know choice unless I was on to many meds to make that decision then I would hope my family and friends would do the right thing and not let me smoke it is called tough love. I use to smoke for 10 years and it was hard to give up I really never had a reason to do it but my god if I had Lung cancer it would be the first thing I did. Again thank you all for replys but nobody really came clean and told the truth so I am thinking that you all are to ashamed to say yes I am still smoking and I see no problem with it. I will be there for my family member and I will stand by him regardless but I can not stand by and say nothing to the people on this board if I can't get my family member to quite then maybe I can get through to someone eles I am thinking of you all and hope that one day this site will no longer be up and running meaning that they find a cure. I think this has to start with telling people to put down the smokes and who better to let people know then you guys. Go to your local schools and share what you are going through and know that you did something to help someone eles from getting this diease. I know not everyone that has lung cancer got it from somking but I do know that 85 per cent did and that is to many. I am thinking of you all today and hope you are all doing ok today

Hello to eveyone I just joined this board.I have a family member that has SCLC he is very important to me. He is on this board so I dont want to say who he is but I have a few questions to ask if you guys can help that would be great. So he has SCLC and is a smoker heavy for 30 something years and he says I want to live and I am going to do what I have to do to get better and I am thinking great and as his family we are going to be ther for him. I dont want to say when he found out he got this horrible diease because I really don't want anyone to know who I am talking about. So my father calls me on the phone to ask if I can take him to Chemo and I said yes no problem. We go and it last about 2 hours. I am seeing all of these people going through the same thing he is. I am not sure what each kind of cancer they have but I know that they are all going through a horrible time in ther life. So when we are leaving and he is weak we get into the car and as soon as we get in he starts smoking and it hit me all at once his he kidding and he says he going to do everything he can to get better well how about stop smoking. so I ask him in a kind way why are you still smoking? He says he needs it asfter chemo because it was hard and he is so upset well I can understand that but my god you have SCLC and you got it because you smoke so maybe you should stop. He goes on to tell me He is going to die and he needs them. NEEDS them are you kidding you NEED to put them in the trash and give your lungs a break So let me see if I have this right he will go to chemo and radation and take his meds and do all the test that they ask him to do.But he won't stop smoking. So how crazy is that. I let it go for a while thinking who am I to say anything to him my god he has cancer and the worst kind you can have. About a week later that was yesterday I ask my father why is he still smoking and why don't you say something to him. He said he tried and got the same answer I did. So I ask how much is he smoking? Is it just after Chemo and he said no its all the time he said that he has not cut back at all. So I told my father that he should try and speak with the doctor and he said he did and the doctor told him that he should stop smoking not because it was going to cure him of this cancer but that it would help his lung not work so hard and keep his blood preasure stable and it could really give him more time. So I ask all of you SCLC are there more of you out there that think its ok to still smoke and if you please tell me why. For my family member I hope you are not upset that I joined this board to ask a few questions. You are important to me and I want to see you fight this diease but you need to stop smoking this I am sure about. I don't mean to upset anyone and I know that I am new but I guess I am a little upset that he thinks there is no reason to stop smoking. The reason should be to live and for your family and most important for you. Thank you all for your time and I hope that know one is upset that I am asking this question
