  1. Thank you so much! I thought I was loosing my mind there for a minute
  2. What happened to my "I Need everyone's input thread"? Is this a site glitch or did it get removed for some reason???
  3. I am trying to avoid songs with angels & Jesus in it because of the diverse group of people, from many religions, the slide show will feature. It has to be a song that could represent everyone, both in the slide show & watching, which makes it much harder. All the songs suggested are wonderful songs though & many of them are favorites of mine. Debi- I absolutely love "Wind Beneath My Wings" and have thought about using it. The song length worries me though. When doing a Flash slide show to music, song length becomes very important. You have to show the frames long enough to see the picture but fast enough to get them all in. You also have to time the pictures with the music flow. I REALLY do appreciate the suggestions though. You guys are very inspiring! Big Hugs, Lisa
  4. Bumping, to make sure everyone gets a chance to read this & participate.
  5. Thanks for the continuing suggestions & support. I'm working on finding & listening to them all. This project is really falling into place. My friend suggested a song by Mary Chapin Carpenter called "10,000 Miles" that seems to be very fitting. It's absolutely beautiful. It puts a lump in my throat & gives me goosebumps, everytime I listen to it. Plus, despite the limited but yet very meaningful lyrics, it is over 6 minutes long. That would allow me to add more pictures & quotes. I really think this is our song. Here are the lyrics: Fare thee well My own true love Farewell for a while I’m going away But I’ll be back Though I go 10,000 miles 10,000 miles My own true love 10,000 miles or more The rocks may melt And the seas may burn If I should not return Oh don’t you see That lonesome dove Sitting on an ivy tree She’s weeping for Her own true love As I shall weep for mine Oh come ye back My own true love And stay a while with me If I had a friend All on this earth You’ve been a friend to me I hope everyone gets a chance to give it a listen. I have it in WAV format & would be happy to send it. Just let me know! Hugs to you all, Lisa
  6. Hello everyone, Some of you may not know me but, I post on the SCLC forum. This site has provided a great deal of comfort to me. My Mother was just diagnosed with Small Cell Lung Cancer in November. Her diagnosis has devastated my family. I have run through every emotion in the book, in a very short time. Even though her prognosis is bleak, I have not given up & never will. New treatments become available all the time & I have put my trust in God. I decided that I could do something about my grief & channel it into a project that will make a difference. I did a tribute website with a flash presentation for the Victims of hurricane Katrina (www.katrinatribute.info ). The site has received millions of hits, from all over the world & still continues to grow. The Flash presentation has helped raised thousands (if not millions) of dollars in relief aid, touched many lives & been a source of healing. It has been used at Fundraisers, Concerts, Church Gatherings & Medical Conventions. I don't think it's a mistake that the success of the site & tribute happened just before my Mom diagnosis. I looked at it as a sign that I could do even more & I had an opportunity to make a difference in millions of lives. I am currently working on the same type of tribute for Cancer Patients, their families & caregivers. It's going to include those who are no longer with us & survivors, of all types of Cancer. I'm doing it in hopes of raising awareness, money for research, compassion & care for all. I never accept any money for my work & I wouldn't have it any other way. I always provide information to reputable charities where donations can be made. I need more pictures for the tribute. If you are interested in helping with this very special project, please send any information & photographs you wish to be added here: ENLTich1104@aol.com . Many blessings to you all, Lisa
  7. I love the song by Tim McGraw, "Live Like You Were Dying" but there is a line in that song that deeply disturbs me... "And he said some day I hope you get the chance To live like you were dyin'". When in all reality, I don't hope that at all. I wouldn't wish Cancer on my worst enemy. I know what Tim is trying to say that we should all, no matter what, live each day like it's our last BUT it doesn't come across that well in the lyrics he chose. I just want the song to be perfect, like the songs I used for the other tributes.
  8. Here is another Flash Tribute I just finished for Vietnam Veterans that I wanted to share with everyone: http://vietnamvets.learncomputersnow.net/ (Click 'Flash Movie Tribute' on the top left menu.) Lisa
  9. You guys are incredible & came up with some really good song suggestions! Karen- I would love to use a number of songs but unfortuneately, it makes the load time unbearable, especially for those on dial up. I also like adding the song to the flash presentation so I can stream the pictures to the music. It creates a much stronger impact. A song that sticks in my mind & has moved me to tears recently is by Hoobastank called "The Reason". I'm not a perfect person There's many things I wish I didn't do But I continue learning I never meant to do those things to you And so I have to say before I go That I just want you to know I've found a reason for me To change who I used to be A reason to start over new and the reason is you I'm sorry that I hurt you It's something I must live with everyday And all the pain I put you through I wish that I could take it all away And be the one who catches all your tears Thats why i need you to hear I've found a reason for me To change who I used to be A reason to start over new and the reason is You [x4] I'm not a perfect person I never meant to do those things to you And so I have to say before I go That I just want you to know I've found a reason for me To change who I used to be A reason to start over new and the reason is you I've found a reason to show A side of me you didn't know A reason for all that I do And the reason is you I'm just not a 100% sure it works with what I am trying to do. Now, if I can you all to stop being so shy & send me those pictures! ( ENLTich1104@aol.com ) I may have to tie my mother up to get one of her! I also wanted to share some great news, that started out scary! She was seen a few days ago by her Onc. who found that she was getting dehydrated from not keeping anything down and had her admitted to St. Anthony's to be given fluids, potassium, and magnesium. She is now feeling, looking, and acting better. Her follow-up x-ray did show that the therapies have shrunk the tumors to the point of not being shown. I am shocked (and overjoyed!)the Chemo & Rad are working so quickly. Thanks for all the support & well wishes! Lisa
  10. Debi- Thanks, I got the wav & will give it a listen tomorrow. The Flash Tribute will be for all Cancers combined. (I still need to find a sponsor website). I will be able to reach more people that way. Besides that, Cancer has come into my life through 7 different people. My best Friend Rose died from Ovarian Cancer, my closest friend Sharon, is a survivor of Breast & Ovarian cancer, another very close friend Phyllis has breast cancer for the second time, Yet another very close friend Jerry is a survivor of prostate cancer, My Mother-in law died from Burketts Luekemia, My Grandfather died from SCLC & my Mom is fighting it now. It's a cause that is VERY near & dear to my heart. I just pray I am able to make a difference & help by showing how much I care. Lisa
  11. Ry- Can you send me the song via email? If so, I would love to hear it. I looked up the lyrics and it sounds really fitting. Lisa
  12. As some of you already know, I designed a tribute website & slide show presentation for Katrina Victims (www.katrinatribute.info). It has been seen by over 3 million people worldwide, helped raise thousands of dollars in relief aid & been a place of comfort for many. Well, I want to do the same for Cancer Patients. A Flash presentation with music, featuring the real people it affects every day. My Mom has inspired me beyond words. I want to try & make a difference for all affected by this horrible disease. If you wish to participate, I need pictures of loved ones with Cancer sent here: ENLTich1104@aol.com . It can be of someone you have lost from Cancer or someone who is fighting to get well. (Please include any personal information you would like me to add to their picture, such as name & dates if applicable.) I'm also looking for suggestions on music to use. We are looking for a song that reaches out & grabs you. Something very fitting for what a Cancer Patient goes through. And in case anyone is wondering, everything is donated. I never, ever accept a dime for my work. I always provide links to reputable charitable organizations, if someone does wish to donate. Please feel free to pass along this information to anyone who may wish to participate. Any help is greatly appreciated. Lisa
  13. Cindy- I am so sorry about your FIL. The Holidays, I'm sure, make it especially tough. I hope he is able to find peace & comfort in the hospice. You're in my thoughts & prayers. Lisa
  14. It is a small world. I grew up in Godfrey just outside of Alton & of course, my parents still live there. My Dad was Chief Pharmacist at St. Lukes in St. Louis (before it went to Charter)for many years. I know many people from the Bethalto, Wood River, Alton area & I wouldn't be surprised if we knew some of the same people. I'm just glad she is so close to great medical care. Lisa
  15. Wow, thank you! You guys are incredible. I will be sure to pass this along to my Mom. Hopefully she will find something that works, as it's so important for her to eat. She works at hospital in Alton, Illinois & has a whole staff of wonderful medical professionals pulling for her. My Dad is there with her, he is retired now (Pharmacist) & even though he has health problems, is able to care for her every need. My Aunt Anne, Mom's sister, makes trips to stay with Mom during her 'Chemo weeks' to help with her care too. I will also make trips up there anytime I am needed & even when I am not. I need her to know how much I love her & pulling for her. My father & Aunt have already started a journal & I'm also writing things down. Dad's vast medical knowledge is really helping out. Still, it's GREAT to have support here. I have been lurking for a few weeks & you guys give wonderful advice on things not covered in any article. The most important part is nurturing the heart & soul. I see that is in abundant supply here. It's much needed & appreciated. Thank You! Lisa Ps. I have a website that also includes a tribute to my Mother....If anyone is interested in seeing it. http://www.katrinatribute.info
  16. Rich- Thanks you so much for the information. I will pass it along to my Mother. And to let you know, TIA is an abbreviation that means 'thanks in advance'. Sorry, I should have been more clear about that & properly introduced myself. I have been walking around in a fog ever since her diagnosis. I guess better late than never I am Lisa, 37, married with 5 kids. Mom's diagnosis of SCLC, a few weeks ago, has devastated my entire family. We have a family history of Cancer on my Mom's side & her father (my grandfather) died of from SCLC in 1974, 6 months after DX. We are just praying hard that God blesses us & gives us much more time with Mom. Thanks again! Lisa
  17. My Mom was just diagnosed with SCLC & started Chemo & Rad last week. She said nothing tastes right & refuses to eat. Is there anything she can do to get that horrid metal taste out of her mouth? Mint was suggested but is there anything else that helps? TIA.
