My Sis, My Doggies, and SASS
  1. Howdy Y'all! Just wanted to let you know that they did the procedure and SHE CAN BREATHE again! She told me that a few days before I came up she didn't think she was going to make it. Her breathing percentage was only at 2 percent we found out. I am so glad that I went there to be with her. I did get to spend a wonderful 2 nites in the hospital with her, but oh.......well. The procedure was immediate and she can breathe. That's all that counts. She is so very tired right now. I just spoke with her on the phone. She's been having problems with nausea, even tho she hasn't had chemo. But I suspect it's because of all that she has been through and the anesthesia and stuff still lingering. I hope. To this day, she is still LIVING AND BREATHING! TYVM!
  2. Thank you so very much Betty! She was transported to a hospital in Sacramento today. She will be having a TreachialBronchial (sp?) stent put in to help her breathe. I am flying up there this afternoon to be with her. Her boys will be there. At least 5 of them. But I'm her sis & she needs me. I will be spending the next couple of nights in the chair next to her bed. If she needs ice, her pillow adjusted, her blanket, a joke, and just to be there. The procedure is supposed to be fairly simple and easy. I pray that all goes well. Don't know how long I will be gone. At least until next week. I will let y'all know how everything went when I get back. Thank you all so very much for your kind words and support. It is appreciated very very much.
  3. Howdy! Had a very scary day today. Sis went to ER. She has pneumonia. Great........We have been texting all day. She could hardly breathe. They gave her some kinda breating treatment which didn't help so then they gave her some meds to help her relax and she was better. She even called me. We have been mostly texting all day. I haven't heard from her for about 30 minutes now. She said she had some visitors so I'm thinking docs are there. I will keep y'all posted as to what is going on. I really appreciate your support and listening. Thank you.
  4. Hi everybody, Not good news. They just now rushed my sis to ER. Not breathing good & I think she has a fever also. She's in Northern Calif. I'm in Southern Calif. They had to carry her to the car. When I spoke with her last night she didn't sound good. I told them to call me when they get her in there and I will fly up. I'm so scared!
  5. Hi There! You are right Jen. She has been through chemo and radiation. The ONC has really zapped her good. My sis did mention that she was interested in looking into "CANCER TREATMENT CENTER OF AMERICA". I contacted them today and they will be sending me some info. Anybody have any contact with these centers?
  6. Howdy! I'm hoping for some guidance here. My sis has SCLC and currently is not doing very well. The tumor in her lung has returned. She was in remission for a few months but it came back. She can't get chemo because her blood counts are so low. Now, she can hardly breath. I don't understand why the ONC is not doing anything but giving her asthma crap! She can hardly breathe! Her plateletes are low also! Any advise from anybody would be appreciated. Thank you.
  7. Howdy! My sis wouldn't eat because of course, she had no appetite and what she did eat came up later. That also included water. She really got zapped with the chemo. We think that the Marinol was our miracle pill.
  8. Howdy Y'all! Sorry I'm late but my visit was hectic and nerve racking but good overall. I got there on Saturday afternoon and her husband had just an hour before cut off what was left of her hair. She looked terrible and was so weak and I almost didn't recognize her. I held my breath and we hugged and she was glad too see me. It hurt to see her in this condition. She couldn't sleep very well because she was so nauseated. She had only been home for 2 days from the hospital because of her chemo treatment the weak before. She got so dehydrated and stuff. Sunday, the next day we took her to emergency because her husband, my brother in law, thought that it was nescessary. So there we went to emergency. Her ONC showed up and told us that her blood counts were up and that is good. However, we told him, what can we do about her appetite. We had mentioned Marinol before but I don't think he was paying attention. She got her room and got settled and we went back to the house. Later on that evening she called and said they gave her a Marinol pill. We all "high fived in the kitchen" lol. It started to work on her right away. A few phone calls later she said she thinks she has the "munchies" and she ate 4, I said, 4 whole crackers! Woo hoo. An improvement. And drinking water. On top of everything, my nephew, his wife and 3 kids were there to visit also. I'm thinking maybe it was a combination of both. However, regardless. She has an appetite and is eating and she gained 5 pounds back! Her ONC also started her on another anti nausia med called EMEND which is new. They didn't have it at the hospital so we had to get it filled at the pharmacy. So maybe it's a combination of both. Her blood counts are up. Not perfect but up. She got a couple of bags of platelets when she was in the hospital. That was fun. She had a reaction to it. Kinda scary. She broke out in hives and itchy. It was nasty. Right now. Today. She is good. Next Monday she gets another CT SCAN and they will do comparisons. Keep your fingers crossed. Today, I am so happy because my sis is happy (as far as I know) and is feeling better. Bless you all and I hope and pray for the best for everyone! Didn't want to keep y'all in the dark for too long. I thought about sending a message earlier but my sis has very slooooowww dial-up.
  9. Howdy Y'all My thoughts and prayers go out to each and every one of you. Your Thoughts and prayers and suggestions for everyone that asks is priceless. I am fortunate to have found this site. I have something on my mind and it is bothering me tremendously. Originally, I was going to leave today to go visit my sis. Now, I am going tomorrow (Sat). I spoke with my nephew. My sis's second. He is in the Navy and lives in Norvolk, VA with his wife and 3 kids. He told me that he will be going out to sea the first week of May and that he has time off from now until then. I made him an offer he couldn't refuse and he and the whole family are going to be at my sisters house this Sunday. I just spoke with my brother in law and wonder if this will be a mistake. She just finished her 2nd round of chemo, was in the hospital all week and he is concerned because her immune system is so weak. Now I am worried. He said he was not too happy about it but I thought it would be a good idea since he is going out to sea for a few months and he and the family hasn't been there for awhile to visit. He didn't get upset with me tho. He told me he got face masks incase someone has a cold or something. I told him it's my fault and that he can blame everything on me. I should have asked him first before I sent everybody a ticket. My emotions always get the best of me. If my sister should get sick and land in the hospital I shall never forgive myself. I am sitting here crying about it feeling very quilty because that is something I didn't think about. Dang! Everybody is going to be there and I don't want to land her in the hospital again. I think I made a mistake. All the tickets are paid for thanks to Daddy Worbucks over here. I guess what I'm asking for is some feedback. I sorta at a loss for words here. Because now I'm feeling quilty and sorta scared.
  10. Thank you all so very much! I did talk to my sis tonite and she told me; "It's about time!" Sheesh. I had called her very early this morning and she couldn't talk so she said she'll call me later. I guess she forgot her cell phone. She said she forgot she couldn't call me from the hospital phone. She sounded much better and said that she thinks she will be able to go home tomorrow. She also had a blood trasfusion today. I hope so. I am going to fly up this weekend to see her so I will see with my own eyes and ears. Also heard thru the grapevine that her hubby is not feeling well. Great. I'm sure he is exhausted and emotionally spent. He is also not in the best of health. I will try to do my best to assess the situation and hopefully I can be of some help. I think my sis forget that I told her I was coming.
  11. Hi Sis! Thank you. She says she tries to eat something everyday and she was trying protein drinks and drinks gatorade. At least that's what she told me. However, this 2nd round of chemo did a number on her fer sure. I don't think she is strong enuf for it. It's very scary. I will try again in about an hour to try to get hold of somebody so I know what is going on. It's so hard. I Thank you and everybody else for your words of encouragement.
  12. Hi missy! But is that normal for that to happen? I feel so helpless being here in so. calif. when she is in no. calif. Sucks!
  13. Hi Y'all Just found out from my nephew that my sis went into the hospital and I am worried. She ended her 2nd round of chemo on Thursday and Friday I talked to her and she sounded terrible. She said she was feeling very nausious and woke up throwing up. I figured I would let her be for a few days and not call her. My nephew didn't tell me very much as he didn't know very much and he was just leaving the house to go to see her with his brother. He just said that his dad took her yesterday and that she hasn't been able to keep any food down. I'm thinking maybe she is dehydrated and that they also might have to put in a feeding tube. I'm very disturbed right now and of course I only get voicemail when I call cell phones. I am very worried. Anybody else out there have or has this going on?
  14. Howdy! My friends dog Princess was diagnosed with cancer approx. 3 years ago. She had a tumor in her leg that was malignant. They did tests and MRI's and everything that one would do for a human. The result was they decided to amputate to save her. Princess is one of their kids. Princess is now 13 years old and is doing great! They had gotten all of the cancer! There is hope. 4 legs or 3, animals adjust better sometimes than humans do!
  15. Howdy! Thank you so much for responding. I was able to talk to one of the medical consultants (Dr.'s) that I work with and they explained this to me also. I appreciate it so much. My sis is in Northern Calif. and I am in Southern Calif. I talk to her on the phone almost everyday. When I here such things I get nervous and ascared. I will be flying up to see her next weekend. I'm not a very good writer and I would like to share. Right now I don't have the umph to tell you what our story is. But I will. From what I have read so far. You guys are awesome.
