  1. Patty, I'll start with SF as it's the least threatening (in most cases). SF is step father.

SUV's are standardized uptake values-used in interpreting PET scans.

A thoracotomy could be performed to then do a lobectomy or a segmentectomy of the lung.

Chemo Brain. Chemotherapy MAY sometimes have a short term affect on memory. It's not debilitating, but a little embarrassing when you have to think a bit to remember names, etc. It generally goes away. This, it seems, is different than the memory problems some report following WBR (whole brain radiation). More questions?

  2. Ann asked me to post this as she is out of the office today (working, nonetheless). Ann spoke with Karen today and Karen asked her to let us all know how things were going for them. Ken is declining rapidly. He was pretty alert when the family visited. Ann said that Karen said that his condition has changed dramatically in just a weeks' time. Hospice will bring a hospital bed, walker, etc. tomorrow. Karen or Ann will update us as they can.

It sounds as though they could use extra prayers and good thoughts.

  3. 2years and 8 1/2 months. Since first dx; 15 mo. since second one. Stage 1B, Stage 1B OR State 1B, Stage IV. I like the first approach better. It's unclear if the second tumor was a new primary or not. My VA oncologist said yes; the ones here don't know.

  4. Some of you are very smart. Not so sure about myself. Did you notice how much time elapsed between my post saying I couldn't figure it out and the post with my "math" explanation? 4 hrs. and 35 min. Most people have better things to do with their time!

  5. I'm back from Chicago, many pounds heavier. We waited 3 hours 10 minutes to get inside the restaurant. Then it was just a short wait until we were seated. It was cold in Chicago, but my sons (2) insisted that I wait inside the nearby Starbucks while they took turns in the line. In addition to Charles, who lives in Chicago, Joe from Minneapolis joined us. We really had a fun weekend.

  6. I need a pass from Thursday 'till Sunday night. I'm going to visit my son in Chicago and have one last meal at Chicago's famous (never heard of it huh?) Berghoff restaurant. The Berghoff is closing at the end of February. The lines to get in are a couple blocks long. So, Rochelle, I need the beer stein pass or warm mittens. Yes, I'll have a bottle of beer for Frank. But NOT with donuts.
