  1. Donna,

I think that my old password was stored somehow in my old AOL stuff. Now with a totally new AOL (my old one got corrupted), I just can't seem to sign on as ginnyd.

Will keep trying. Rick has given me a new pw but can't seem to make it work. No big deal.

  2. Just an update.

Earl had a port installed on Fri am. That went well. Then had his first Taxol/Carboplatin infusion. That went well. But we were at the hospital from 8:15 am to 6:15 pm. Loooooooong day.

Friday night at 10:30 (while I was asleep on the couch) my darling husband decided to go for a walk. Well, as I have posted before, he walks like a man after 3/4 beers. You got it, he fell flat on his face on our asphalt driveway. Took him 1-1/2 hours to get in the house. I never heard him until he got into the house and I feel so GUILTY. He was covered with blood and soaking wet, it was raining. His face, hands and knees are skinned beyond belief, but no broken anything. My heart just breaks for him. I wish I had a magic wand.

Saturday night we were scheduled to have our dinner group at our house. Earl insisted he wanted to have it. It is 3 other couples for hors' and dinner. He had a wonderful time, laughed, ate, drank and was extremely merry. And he got the big sympathy vote for his face. It was absolutely fantastic to see the smile and twinkle in his eye for a short time.

He paid the price on Sunday, he was exhausted, but it was worth it.

I am fighting our insurance company right now. They have refused the Celebrex rx. We are going to appeal it since even the onc. agrees that it seems to help with this chemo.

Our hope right now is that this chemo either halts or shrinks the tumors. Please remember the Duke in your prayers.

P.S. I bought him a cane first thing Sat am. I told him either he uses it or I will use it on him. He is using it - and I think he is glad.

  3. I am so sorry to hear that Estelle is not doing well. I just think she is a darling. Of course, I will add an extra prayer for her.

  4. Dave,

I once read that Nancy Reagan chewed each bite 19 times - this helped her stay thin. A little excessive - but - maybe you could do 5 chews.

So very glad to hear that you heard good news. Yeah!!!!!!!

  5. Dear Lauri,

My heart goes out to you and your family. I am sure that your mother is in the throes of original dianososis and will begin to get some fighting spirit.

I see you are in NJ. We are in PA (outside Phila). We go to Fox Chase Cancer Center and find it to be a great hospital, dedicated only to cancer.

Will add your mother to my prayer list.

  6. Dear Kathy,

I am so saddened. Losing the love of your life and your best friend is so unimaginable. Please know that my thoughts are with you.

I think redoing the room in Tim's memory is a wonderful tribute to your husband.

  7. To my cyber support system

Thank you all for your prayers, support and advise. We have the actual meeting with the onc tomorrow and he will review the scans for the first time. They have been on the back seat of my car since last friday.

Even my pcp said he thought you could do RFA on up to 4 tumors.

Our two daughters are going with us tomorrow. I think the more ears will be able to hear what the dr is saying. I have lots of questions.

Earl's attitude is amazing. When I told him that last night, he said what is the use of living if you can't be happy. He read the info on Iressa I printed from their web site, he said it looked like good news. I had read it and thought it looked like confusing news.

I will let you know what happens tomorrow. Thank you again for your support, while I have a wonderful family and friends support network, you guys are right there with us and talking to you is soooooooooo important.

  8. I always had a cleaning person. When Earl and I married and we both worked I asked him which half of the house he wanted to clean. The look on his face was priceless. We got a cleaning person.

When he got sick, I panicked. Fired cleaning person. After 6 months I realized that 1. I had forgotten how to do it and 2. I REALLY did not want to do it. Agree with Ry, will work for cleaning woman.

Now we have a cleaning 'man' every two weeks. It keeps the health department out. I figure I work 1 day every two weeks to keep my cleaing man, get my hair cut and colored every 5 weeks and get my nails (with gels) done every two weeks.

Earl being sick is torture, I don't need to be mad at this disease because it has changed every aspect of my life.
