  1. Don,

I hope all continues to go well. It sure warms my heart to hear words from such a loving and vigilant(sP?) caregiver. What a lucky lady she is to have you. Being the caregiver sure seems like an exhausting job ... just hearing what my mom goes through tells me this ordeal takes great strength.

    Hugs to you both.

  2. Happy Birthday Dad!

We love you soooooooooo much and are so very proud of you!

    Here is to many more!

    Love always

    Jeff, Maia and Scotty too.

    Love you Mom!

  3. Hi to Leandra, Caitlin, Alex and all the other "kids" out there.

I am one of the "kids at heart" with 2 kids of my own. It is great that you young ones are getting a chance to talk and I would certainly vote to have an area for you ... you wouldn't mind the occasional (sp?) post from one of us older kids would you?

Just so you know ... it doesn't matter how old I get, I still feel that I am my Daddy's daughter. How wonderful that you are all there for your parents through this time.

Love and prayers to all you and your families.

  4. I can relate to being away and how hard that is. My mom and dad will be visiting us this week and I am so looking forward to it. I am hoping that Spring really sets in so that I can show my mom the incredible color etc.

The distance is especially hard after this dx. What scares me is not being able to 'be there' when I am needed or want to ... we are dealing with a lay off situation and that has put unbelievable stress on my husband. Not to mention two young children and their schedules. I just have to leave this one up to God and trust that it will work out.

  5. Thank you for posting your message with Becky's picture. I have not been here long enough to put faces (or pictures) with names but I recognized Beckyg. You and your family, especially Katie, are in my prayers. I enjoyed reading Becky's posts and felt an amazing strength come through in her words. Thank you for the update and it would be great to hear how you are both doing as you are able.

I can see by all the posts that your Becky has left a great deal of foot prints in the hearts of many.

  6. I can relate to this subject. In a way I have found that my usual comfort with my general health has changed. I have found myself thinking "When I go for my next yearly appointment I need to ask about 'this' and 'that'." and then I think, "Oh great, now this doctor is going to think I am a total worry wort, maybe I should say nothing at all." So what I think I am going to do is make sure that my doctor "listens" ... she was really good last time so I might just let her know that this time too. I think it is a good idea to impress upon a doctor our family history and I am learning that they often need to be reminded of things.

You are definately not alone ... Hang in there.

  7. Hi Margaret,

Welcome to you. My mom is Paddy and my dad was diagnosed with NSCLC on his birthday last year. This has been another difficult journey for my parents and I am so proud of the way they continue to deal with it. Living here in MI while they are in CA is tough too, for many reasons. I have found this group especially caring and supportive. While I have not posted much, I do visit and really appreciate the words spoken here.

  8. Hi Dusty,

I'm sorry to hear about your sister. I have not posted much since I came out of lurking mode but I do visit here often. This is a great group of people. Welcome.

    Daughter of Paddy and David

  9. Thanks to everyone. You are a terrific group of people. :)

cathy - yes, we are the family in MI. We are looking forward to the visit very much. Also we are hoping the weather will be nice ... it is a little confusing today with it being sunny and COLD. But little green things are popping up all over the garden so spring is on the way.

SharKats - I never thought I would be a "cat mom" but I sure do love our furry kids.

Snowflake - my Dad is with you on this one ... he insists that I need a small black canine running around our house. I have two kids to chase and pick up after so that takes care of that. You are right though, we are lucky to be allowed to live here as the unpaid help to our kittys.

Paddy - Hi MOM! Maia and Scott send a hug to you and GRANDPA.
