  1. I don't know what to tell you, Ginny. For myself, it seems to upset me very much when someone in the family asks me about my illness. I don't know if that means I am in denial or not, but I just don't like being reminded about it. Sometimes I will say something myself about a doctor visit, etc. But I agree with the rest, if you break the ice, your hubby and family may feel it is acceptable to discuss it with you. Prayers and hugs!

  2. Does anybody know how she is doing? I've written to her several times and the letters come back. Hope she is okay and just hasn't had time to write. Maybe she got a new computer or something. Just hope she is all right!!

  3. Very sorry to hear the cancer has spread. Prayers for you and I hope the radiation does the trick to relieve your pain. Try to force yourself to eat to keep up your strength. I hope you can find some new treatment or clinical trial that might help. Sorry to hear that you are in the hospital. I'm pulling for you!

  5. I would think that it meant nothing bad showed up on the Ct Scan. In the beginning, only after the tumor showed up on my Ct scan did they make me get a pet scan. Good luck!

  6. Hello!

My friend has two family members who had lung cancer. Her brother had a lung removed fourteen years ago and is still doing great, the other relative had half a lung removed twelve years ago and is fine. Also my sister told me she knew someone who recovered from lung cancer for seven years, but then she died from something else, so it does not always come back. There is a young man on the site who had a lung removed twenty eight years ago and is a bicyclist. So take heart. There is a nurse on the site who has been doing great for seven or eight years. So don't listen to that doctor!

  7. Hi Linda,

You should try to get hospice if you want your Mom to come home. The Visiting Nurse Association Hospice was wonderful and it is paid for by Medicare as well as all your Mom's medications. They will give you information on how to care for your Mom and send a girl to help with her personal care. I believe someone in the home must be living with your mother although a friend of mine was alone and lived in a boarding house. Maybe your Mom is just not getting enough oxygen to the brain. That happens sometimes. She could live a good long time. There are people on this site in stage four and have been doing well. Prayers and big hugs for you and your Mom. My friend had hospice for nearly three years. He went for the chemo and radiation, He had a large tumor on his chest and was afraid of surgery. A few times he became confused when he refused his oxygen. He smoked and started his chair on fire so they gave him three choices: quit, go to a hospice home where he could smoke with supervision, or take away the oxygen. He took away the oxygen and after a few months, the nurse found him on the floor one day. She took him to a hospital where he was put back on oxygen and he lived about three more months in a hospice home. The oncologist refused to admit him to the hospital. They wanted to just let him die, but the nurse fought for him until she found a decent doctor who would admit him to a hospital. Thank God she did. He had some happy days in those three months and the hospice home made sure he was medicated for pain. Sorry to ramble on. Hope things work out for you and your Mom.

  8. My friend had some confusion during all the chemo, but it did get better. I was reading about the surgery after your husband was diagnosed with a stage 4. That is amazing! I'm so happy he was able to have surgery. There is a God!

  9. Had a good cat scan last week. It is my first cat scan since lung surgery two years ago. I was shocked. I thought it would be bad news. They said there was no evidence of lung cancer on the scan, just my bad gall bladder and cists on the liver which I guess are very common in a normal person. I have had chest xrays all along since surgery, the last one seven months ago and they have been okay. What a relief! May you all have good news!
