My doc says its not considered cured until you have been in remission for 5 years. At first when I would get a scan, my onc nurse would give the copy to me to read, then she would explain it to me. Now that I no longer am on chemo, I have them print off a copy for me and I have started collecting them. I still don't understand what they say, but as long as I can read "no change", I'm happy with that until I see my doc and have him explain it to me. Could your tumor still be there, but the cells are dead? Is that possible? BJ

Hi There, I'm new to this site myself, but so far the people are warm and caring. I'm glad I found this site. I too went into shock when I found out I had sclc (dx'd 8/03), so what you are feeling has to be normal. I'm sure others will respond, but try to keep your chin up and think positive! Please keep us posted after your mothers visit with the oncologist. BJ

I just want to thank you for your responses. I'm so glad to have found this site and be able to read up on things and share experiences with others! I even found out what NED was in the glossary! My husband and I celebrated our 28th anniversary on the 10th and we leave for Las Vegas on the 17th, returning on the 22nd and I see the doctor on the 23rd. This will be my first visit with the Doctor since my PET showed clean. What should I expect when I see him? He did mention that he may have me do another cat scan. Would this be to see if the tumor is growing back? Once again Thank You for your responses!
