Carleen,
I am fairly new so thank you for sharing. My husband and I are both working full time and it is difficult. I am fortunate in that my husband can work from home and I have been at the same company for almost twenty years so I have tremendous support. I too, have married my soulmate, and we are about to celebrate twenty years. We continue to laugh and have fun, and I like you, appreciate each day. The two of you are in my prayers and hope that your next post will be in the Good News Forum.

I cannot get over the difference gatorade has made in my husband's life (which I read about on this site). My husband has the most problems with blood clots and edema. In two days, the edema is practically gone and other signs of flebitis(I'm sure this is spelled wrong) are also gone for the moment. I continue to give him green tea and blueberries. (We know a doctor with cancer who swears by blueberries and tumeric and is going strong) Does anyone else use certain foods for relief of symtoms or antioxidents?

My prayers and hugs are with you.

Wow. You are a strong woman to face a needle eye to eye. I am happy the tumor removal was a success!

I am so sorry. Hugs to you and your brother.

Thanks everyone for your input....it really helps. My husband is getting a transfusion tomorrow since his blood count is so low---no wonder he was feeling so bad.

My husband fairly new to chemo. He had a couple of good days but other than that, he has joint aches, edema, and so forth. He is working from our home so he does handle it well but I thought since this was an "off" week from chemo, he would feel much better. Is this the norm?

I am sorry to read about your mom. My husband had extensive blood clots and is very prone to edema. In fact, he is going through it again now. His doctor has recommended all of the above---except the Gatorade which I am going to try now.

Welcome to the group Glenda,
I, like you, became overwhelmed by the statistics too. I have become a much more educated caregiver from this site and others. The more I read, the more questions I have for the onc. One thing that I have learned, everyone is very different and what may be effective for one person, may be highly ineffective for another person. So, just keep faith in options and call, call, call your doctors whenever unusual symptoms occur and come here for support.....
Hugs and prayers go out to you and your husband.
