Leslie221
Since Peter Jennings died the news coverage of lung cancer has peaked. Unfortunately, it gives the impression that only smokers get lung cancer and focuses on ways to quit smoking. Quitting is a GREAT thing and I'm glad they support that. But we need the media to get the message out to people that lung cancer is increasing rapidly world-wide among non-smokers and never-smokers! Otherwise, we'll miss an opportunity to push for better funding for research. Please see LisaO's post in the General board called "ridiculously stupid article," use the link she provides to the MSN article, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click "feedback." If they hear from us in numbers, they may pay attention! You might also send a letter to the editor of your local newspaper pointing out the slant in media coverage of lung cancer.
