Phoenix Coyotes coach Wayne Gretzky left the team indefinitely Saturday afternoon to fly to his parents home in Branford, Ontario, Canada, and be with his ailing mother. Associate coach Rick Tocchet will take over in Gretzky's absence. Phyllis Gretzky has been recovering from treatment from lung cancer. Wayne Gretzky, considered by many as the greatest hockey player ever, has 16-14-1-1 record in his first season as a head coach.
