Bev'sSister
If my sister's cancer only spread to her thyroid, are her chances better than if it had spread to more places..or to a different place? I know that sounds ridiculous..since it spread at all...but I haven't seen too many posts where the cancer had spread to the thyroid. Don Wood
Unfortunately, any sign of the cancer outside the original lung site (metastasis) is not good news. It means the cancer has escaped into the body and there may be cancer cells that are not yet seen in other places. Don
Cindy RN
Don is right. Anytime it has spread outside of the orig location it can pop up anywhere. Are they treating her? Cindy
Bev'sSister
Yes. She is on her 2nd round of Chemo. She goes Mon. thru Thurs. I don't really know what kind of Chemo it is, but I do know that the lump that was on her thyroid has shrunk. She had a PET before she started Chemo and it did not show where it had spread any further. Are y'all saying that it probably has spread, but just is not showing up? Larry
Bobby what they are saying is once it has left the initial point of where it first started there are now cancer cell's that can show up about any where as there is no way of knowing right away whether the chemo has been successful in killing those cell's. That is what make's this cancer so scary the unknown as Medically there is no way of knowing if they killed all the cell's.
