natalie
Does anyone know which test is more reliable? PET? CAT? MRI? The PET showed now cancer anywhere other than the lungs, but the MRI is showing things but not sure if it could be scarred tissue. Thanks in advance for your responses. Don Wood
I think that none of them is completely reliable alone, and that is probably why all three are frequently used.
Guest DianeP
I think you meant that the PET scan showed "no" cancer, which is good!! The PET scan will pick up any metabolic activity that the cancer cells is making. So a negative PET scan normally means that there is no cancer, or that its so small that its not getting picked up. Normally what I've seen is that they will do multiple different tests to determine metastatic involvement. So the best results is having the PET scan and MRI/CT scan. But it was the PET scan that determined that my father had no metastatic involvement when the CT scan showed a tumor on his liver. So I hope that helps! Remember, the only true way to know is a biopsy.
dadstimeon
Natalie, Not sure which is best. I have had MRI and CAT scans. Click on the website below. They break it down about each scan. Hope that helps. Take care and God Bless. Rich http://www.baymoon.com/~gyncancer/libra ... 71601a.htm
