Mom was diagnosed with stage IV NSCLC, what should I do as a college student? Any advise?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

My mother was diagnosed with lung cancer stage IV with metastasis to her brain and ribs. Effusion around the heart and she is going to have a procedure to drain it tomorrow. My mom just moved to the US last November, and now she's in the hospital.

I'm so lost now, because I'm still in college, with a part-time job that only pays $500 a month. My mother only worked for 5 months so we doesn't have much saving left. She doesn't speak English and does not drive, so I need to take her to the hospital, or the doctor's office. I have no other relatives in the world, just my mom. So does my mom, I'm the only relative she has. Now her condition getting worst, coughing up blood, chest pain, anxiety etc...I really want to be around her till the end of her journey. Any advice?
