  1. Hello, Haven't been on here for a while but my friend was diagnosed over a year ago with NSCL lung cancer. It went to spine and liver and she's had 2 courses of chemo plus went on tarceva but it hasn't worked. Now she's on another, stronger douse of chemo. Was given a name and told to research radiofrequency thermal ablation -apparently it blasts the liver cancer into submission. Does anyone know anything about it? If it's effective? How widely known it is? Other than this one report I've had, I know nothing! Thanks, xxxx
  2. Prayers with you and family. Hope everything works out xxxx

    Request for prayers

This is a heartfelt request to add Rose to your prayers. Whilst she responded well to chemo, one patch of her tumour has grown. She's stage 4 with metastasis. She's an amazing person who spends her time caring for others. It means so much to her to know that someone is praying for her - throughout this whole thing, that is the only thing she has asked for. Would be hugely grateful if you would pray for her, as for all sufferers of this horrible disease. xxx

    Metastasic

Hi, Have been researching staging and it seems any time the cancer has spread to the spine it it definitely stage 4. I am just a little surprised as the lung tumour is less than 20 mm. Is there a relation to the size of tumour and the metastasis? Is anyone else in this boat? Is it true that they point blank won't operate on someone whose cancer has metastacised regardless of the size of primary tumour itself? Tarceva has been recommended after not the best response to 2 courses of chemo. A good idea? Sorry, lots of questions! x
  5. Friend of mine recommended homeopathy as an addition to treatment. Anyone tried or tested? Also does anyone know anything about crystals- apparently there's some form of alternative treatment to do with crystals? Thanks, x
  6. Hi, thank you for all of your posts. Will have to accept stage 4 by sounds of things. Just one thing - mention of a false positive. What's that and does it happen often? I didn't know they don't operate if it has metastacsed - is there a reason for that as surely it doesn't affect the lung itself? Thanks xxx
  7. Hi, My friend is thinking about going on Tarceva. Is this only available on private health? Anyone know of good ways to combat the skin side effects? Does it reduce the tumour in the lung, keep it stable, work on the metastasis or do everything? My research is a bit unclear! Thanks x
  8. Hello, I'm confused about staging lc. Don't know if anyone can shed light? My friend has nsclc adenocarcinom but the tumour is under 18mm max diameter - which is pretty small isn't it? But it has metastacised to patches in the spine. In all the stuff I've been reading that makes it stage 4. Is it though when you consider how small the primary is? Does it make any difference how big the lung cancer is, to affect the spine? I'm confused! x
  9. That's interesting... I don't suppose it makes much difference - I've just been wondering. Apparently the amount of radiation given to breast cancer patients was cut down 5 years ago. Thought there was a potential connection? So is Tarceva the new drug - similar to heceptin? Does anyone know pros and cons of it? I was reading an article on how good wheatgrass is for you - it's pretty cheap from Holland and Barretts if anyone's interested. x
  10. Hi, my friend has adenocarcinoma and I'm trying to find out a few things - don't know if anyone can help me? Has anyone noticed a link between non smoking women who have had breast cancer over 5 years ago now getting primary adenocarcinoma? Wondered if the radiation from last time was a possible cause... Also apparently there's a new drug like heceptin but for lung available but only on private health - does anyone know anything about this? Also - sorry lots of questions - my friend only has a small section in the lung but it has already metastacised to the spine. Does anyone know about preventative treatment on the brain to stop metastasis there? Would be grateful for any information on any area - adenocarcinoma, primary in lung with patches on the spine, currently 2 cycles of chemo and one of radio on the spine. xxx
