After 8 rounds of chemo therapy, my dad is now on Tacerva. Last week (the 3rd week) he had a CT and blood test. The CT showed the tumor in his lung is stable, however, the blood test of CEA is not good. It is higher than before. Now it is almost 76. The normal level should be less than 5. He is very upset. My dad has whole body rash after taking tacerva and swollen of his fingers and legs.
His doctor does not sure Tacerva is working. Want to do another test in another 2 weeks. If still not good, will do PET.
Unlike here in the states, Tacerva and PET are covered by insurance, in China patients have to pay them from their own packet. It is very hard.
