Wow, Connie! I was away from the boards for a couple of weeks and had no idea that you of all people, who always bring the rest of us on the board up, was so down.
Ok, I'm not so flowery and emotional with words, cause if I open up, the flood gates will come and I can't deal with that. So, I'll only say this - you are blessed and you mean so much to all of us!!!!
Love,
Alisa

I see Dr. Raymond Chang and he is great! I noticed his name was in one of the links Randy send.
I highly recommend him. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about him or his practice.

I'm not sure if New Treatment is the proper place to post this, but here is a very interesting article on celebrex and lung cancer (M.D. Anderson study).

Hi Dana! I'm so happy for you. And yes, your mom is watching over you! We met a few times for lunch when she was in NYC. And boy does she love you!

Hello all! I just got my latest chest scan reports back and I am still NED (8 years)! I am so blessed and so grateful. I still can't believe it.
It was the first time I had a CT without contrast. I've had "very small ground glass opacities" that have remained unchanged since 2003. All doctors assume it's scar tissue from my surgery. The report said they still remain unchanged and after all this time, the drs. said if it was anything, they would have changed. I still wish they wouldn't show up at all though. But I won't look for trouble ....
I was diagnosed in 2000, when my twins were in 4th grade and I didn't know if I would make their elementary school graduation. Well, I'm still here, and they graduate high school next month! Yep, they are the babies in my avatar. I will update the picture with one from their HS graduation next month.
My next goal - to be at their College Graduation. Both twins accepted at Stony Brook University in New York. I am so proud of them. They will be in the dorms, but are close enough to come home on weekends (2 hour Long Island Railroad into NYC). They told their college advisor (who told me without them knowing) that they wanted to stay in NY in case my cancer came back and I needed them. Of course when I heard that, I cried in the advisor's office like a baby. But I am happy with their decision. It's a good college and I am glad they are close to come home on weekends when they want.
Well, I wanted to share my good news with you all. I'm ok until my next scan in January. I'm copying this to my other boards (ACOR and the AOL board), so I'll see some of you there.
Love,
Alisa

Hi Barbara (and all ...)
I just spoke to Linda. Here's the update: good news ...
She got the results of her latest CT scan - STABLE!! YAY!! There's no shrinkage, but NO new nodules and NO growth.
In fact, Linda is so stable, that when I called her this morning, I reached her while she was on the beach in Aruba
She thanks you for all your concern and will be back posting when she returns home and deals with the computer issue.
-
I spoke to her last week. She still has a lot of pain, but has times when it's not as bad. She had a bout with the flu, and recovered from that. I'll try to update you until her computer is back running and she can update you herself.

Linda (Meadow/MeadowBreeze) has been having computer issues. I'll call her tomorrow and hopefully can update you all then.

I know what you mean! My twins just turned 18 and they were 10 years old when I was diagnosed. It has affected them, but they hold it in. I think it makes us closer during these rebellious years. I find they deal with things as they come, and see only what is in front of them. It helps them cope. The fact that I look healthy to them now, and have my hair, etc., is a way for them to ease their minds. We will deal with things as they come. And I feel as you do - when I think of dying, I am not afraid for myself. I worry so much about my children. All they have is me (I'm a single mom) and my family all died of lung cancer. I'm not religious, but I am very spiritual, but find it doesn't help my worry about my sons. I am trying to deal with that through meditation and relaxation techniques (not working .... yet)
Take care,
Alisa

I have been on probiotics (as well as other herbs/supplements) for years with the blessing of all my doctors. I love them and have my children on probiotics and phytonutrients also. I never heard anything controversial at all about probiotics.
Maybe your doctor meant it was controversial to take with treatment? Could you ask him for more details and let the board know what he says? It's good to know when something is controversial so we can do our own due diligence.
Thanks!

Ok, I've talked extensively on this subject with my CAM doctors and they all agree that the THC in marijuana not only helps appetite, but also has anti-cancer activity.
However, for lung cancer patients, it's a bit of a Catch 22. The heat/smoke going into the lungs is not good. 2/3 of my doctors told me to smoke only high grade and through a vaporizer that can be bought at head shops or online.
The third dr. told me that's not good enough. The lungs will still receive some heat. She told me best to brew it in a Chai Tea for the medicinal benefits and drink it and to google "Chai Tea" + medicinal marijuana and get recipes on the proper and healthier way to make it.
I hope this helps.

Connie, I'm here! Thanks for thinking of me! My twins are starting to get their college acceptances back and we've been applying for financial aid, visiting campuses, etc. It's been crazy and I couldn't get to the boards for a few weeks.
I can't believe it - when I was first diagnosed my sons were in 4th grade and I wasn't sure I would be around for their elementary school graduation. And now in June, they will be graduating High School!
I have been truly blessed and I hope this offers others encouragement.
Thanks again for thinking of me and missing me. I am so touched and feel like I have family here ...
Love,
Alisa
