  1. (((Patti))) You know you have my prayers! I understand, but sorry you're so stressed. I know it's easy for me to say to try to relax, but please don't make yourself sick. Hopefully the headaches are just a side effect of treatment. My mom has them for several days after Alimta. Keep us posted. I will be praying for the best possible results.

    Hugs,

    Lisa

  2. Grateful that my mom's scan results were good. Grateful, as always, for another day with mom. Grateful that our snowstorm is half over.

Grateful Jackie found support and that she posts here each day to remind us there is always something to be grateful for. Thanks, Jackie.

  3. Hi all. Thanks so much for all the prayers! Well the oncologist came in the room and said the CT scan looks good! The mass in upper right lobe is better. Because there is some pneumonia (I'm thinking from the radiation?) it is hard to say how much it might have shrunk, but he said if you put the new picture on top of the old one, it is smaller. There is some necrosis of the mass as well. He said this is all good news. No new masses in the lung, but there is some thickening of fluid in the lower lung and her liver enzymes are a little abnormal. He did not seem overly concerned about this yet though. She will continue with Alimta and Zometa tomorrow. So phew! Thanks again all! It was bad enough having the scanxiety, but with the horrible snowstorm we're having today, getting there was a bit nerve racking.

Does anyone have any insight on the thickening fluid or abnormal liver enzymes?

  4. My mom is on Alimta right now. She's had 3 infusions and gets her scan results tomorrow. My mom's side effects are similar to Patti's, plus a dull headache for a few days after treatment. The infusion is short - usually an hour or less - unlike the Carbo/Taxol which was 5 hours. Along with the folic acid and B12 shot, she also takes steroids the day before, of, and after chemo. Here's hoping the Alimta is the magic bullet for Michael! Keep us posted.

    Hugs,

    Lisa

  5. I'm so sorry for your loss. The way you celebrated your mom's life is a true testament to the life she led and the love you shared. I know she is so proud of you and is looking down on you with love. I pray for peace and strength as you go forward.

    Hugs,

    Lisa

  6. That is beautiful, Welthy.

I wrote this 20 years ago when we lost my aunt and cousin in a car accident. We put it on their picture board:

A woman and child with hearts of gold

Their time so short, so much untold

They will never know all the lives they have touched

How many that needed and loved them so much

In our hearts they will live on

Our memories cherished, our love for them strong

Fear not for our loved ones, they will not be alone

God sent his angels to carry them home

  7. I'm sorry you have to have treatment again. My mom had radiation to her sternum and it was better pretty quickly. She also gets Zometa infusions monthly - side effects for her is a general achyness (is that a word?) Hope all goes well. You're in my prayers.

    Hugs,

    Lisa
