  3. Sorry to hear about that awful infection! That was about the last thing he needed, but at least it's better and he can move on.

I did not have a port, but now I wish I had gone ahead with one, or even a PICC line, but the doc didn't think I needed one because I had good veins. Now, though my veins in my hand are all fried, so IV's are hard to place.

Keep us posted on how your dad is doing

  4. Mary,

I totally understand how you feel. I am the queen of scanxiety, and I've never been able to quite master getting things under control leading up to scans/xrays/followups.

But, I found a lot of relief with Xanax, and I didn't live on it, but used it when I felt overwhelmed. If you need something to sleep, get your doctor to prescribe something, because lack of sleep just adds to anxiety.

I took time off work, which I found to help-less stress led to less anxiety overall. I stayed busy, though, during my time off because any distraction is good.

Except for meds, exercise if you can do it, and experience, I think it's just something that we survivors have to contend with.

And I agree with Diane-don't let this ruin your birthday today. This is a great distraction, just enjoy the people around you and celebrate the day. I know it's easier said than done, but I hope your day goes well, and Happy Birthday!

  5. I know what you mean about the sorry to meet you! But, if you have to be involved with lung cancer, this is a good place to find.

I want you to know we have several Pancoast tumor survivors here-and long term survivors at that-they will be along to introduce themselves.

Keep checking in with us-you can get all kinds of support here.

  6. I wholeheartedly agree with your courses of action-a second opinion for nothing if not peace of mind, and of course, a healthy diet will make you feel better and make better decisions, and most important to me-feel like you can do something to improve and maintain your health.

Not being a medical person, I don't know what the best plan of attack will be, but I certainly hope you get some answers and get a good action plan going soon.

Please keep us posted. I will be thinking of you.

  7. Hi and welcome to LCSC! This is the place to communicate with other survivors and get some input to your questions.

I am not a medical professional, and I don't have any specific answers to your questions, but I really don't think BAC is so very rare-that was not the kind of tumor I had, but several people on this board have had that. I hope they can answer your questions.

As to time, there is no one person that knows that. We have many active stage 4 survivors here. So look around on the board at the various topics and ask questions.

    Keep us posted,

    Cindy

  8. Donna,

Congrats on your 15! That's fantastic and such an inspiration to those of us who are coming along behind you!

And here's hoping your husband gets great news as well. Please let us know.

  9. Hi Judy,

Wow, to be 88 and have to go through lung cancer treatments-that's got to be tough on your mom and your family.

I'm glad you have the help of your sisters-this is a lot to deal with.

As far as the depression goes, I think the family doctor should be consulted on that. Depression is common for those of us who are facing cancer treatments and there are some medications that can help. It won't make everything all better but it does help.

Keep us informed about what's going on.

  10. Hi Rick,

Good luck on the biopsy and let us know how it goes.

I too love your name=ToBeGolden and the story behind it. What a story about your golden. I have two labs and they are fantastic dogs. They are both the picture of unconditional love.

Keep us posted on what's going on with you.
