  1. Good morning, everyone!

It was 75 degrees as I rode to work this morning. Forecast high for this afternoon is 97. The forecast here for the next couple of months is likely to be the same: hot, hot, and more hot.

I hope you're feeling better today, Judy. It sounds like you're soldiering on well as always.

    Have a great day, all!

  2. Good evening, everyone!

It sounds like you had a grand adventure, Eric. I had a fun weekend, too. Daughter Marie and I went fishing yesterday. When daughter Linda found out we were bringing fish home, she wanted to join us for dinner, so we had a small family gathering and fish dinner.

This morning, Rose and I did a short bicycle ride at Lake Benbrook to start the day, then went swimming, then went to the National Cancer Survivors Day gathering in Fort Worth. We visited with Katie there and celebrated along with all the other survivors there.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Here's Marie holding her biggest crappie from yesterday's fishing trip.

Rose won the largest gift basket at the cancer survivors gathering.

  3. Good morning, everyone!

It was 70 degrees as I rode to work this morning. With the cold front, it's only supposed to get up to 95 degrees this afternoon....LOL.

I rode to work all 4 days this week. Rose and I rode on Monday, too, so I've ridden the last 5 days. But tomorrow will be a day off the bike. I'm going fishing, and my daughter is supposed to join me. I'm looking forward to that; kids don't seem to find much time for things like fishing after they grow up.

    Have a great day, all!

  4. Good morning, everyone!

It was 70 degrees as I rode to work this morning. Forecast high is 93. It's humid, and we have a chance of storms.

MI Judy, I know how you feel, getting a new puppy. We got Pixie, our new Chihuahua puppy in March to replace the dog we lost last fall and as a companion to our old dog.

We both love her already, but she's the strongest jawed Chihuahua I've ever seen, and I'd sure like to see her get past the biting and chewing stage soon. It's funny how I always seem to give a dog a nickname, different than their given name. Every time I look at Pixie, I see teeth everywhere, so I'm calling her Gremlin these days.

Eric, it's easy to get intimidated looking at long distance bicycle rides. But every rider who does long distance riding started out with very short rides. Endurance riding does seem to be especially suited to older riders like me, though.

    Have a great day, all!

  5. Good morning, everyone!

It was 73 degrees as I rode to work this morning. Forecast high for this afternoon is 94.

Great news on your doctor visit, Eric! Congrats! Yuck @ chemo day, Judy. I hope it goes well for you.

Nothing much happening here, just another day at work. Have a great day, all!

  6. Good morning, everyone!

It was 72 degrees as I rode to work this morning. The forecast high is 96 degrees, and it's supposed to get over 100 degrees before the week is over.

I hope everyone had a nice holiday weekend. I did my 134 mile ride on Saturday, caught a bunch of crappie on Sunday, went swimming both Sunday and Monday, and Rose and I did an 18 mile bike ride on Monday morning. We followed most of my commute route, but stopped at a bicycle shop on the way, visited for a while, then rode back home.

It's back to the grind today. At least it's a short week. This kind of heat takes some getting used to every year, both for working and riding. But I'm 10 pounds lighter this year, so I'm hoping that makes it easier.

Tell them to be gentle with that finger stick, Judy! Have a great day, all!

  7. Good morning, everyone! TGIF!

It was 74 degrees when I got up this morning, with a forecast high in the mid 90's.

Does everyone have big plans for the holiday weekend? I'm driving to Denison directly from work. I'll have dinner with a bunch of the randonneurs, then the ride starts at 6:30 am tomorrow.

Sunday, I'm planning on making a short fishing trip to Lake Granbury, then on Monday, Rose and I are doing a short bike ride early, then some swimming at the HOA pool, which opened today.

    Have a great weekend, all!

  8. Good morning, everyone!

It was 73 degrees as I drove to work this morning. It's supposed to get up to 92 with light winds.

I'm glad the doctors confirmed what you already knew, Ned. Congrats! Hope your eye is better soon, Judy.

Nothing much going on here, just another day in the sweat shop. Have a great day, all!

  9. Good morning, everyone!

It was 70 degrees as I rode to work this morning. Forecast high for today is 91 degrees.

The last two mornings, I haven't been able to get my heart rate very high as I've ridden to work, so I could go any speed I wanted, as long as it was slow. That's my body's way of telling me it's tired. I've ridden 8 of the last 10 days. I'm thinking I'll take the next two days off the bike, before I ride Saturday's 200k at Denison.

Look up that location, Eric. It's next to Lake Texoma, a 90,000 acre lake on the Texas-Oklahoma border. As a matter of fact, Saturday's 200k brevet crosses the Texoma dam, near the end of the ride.

I got tickled after last year's Denison brevets. The 600k ride is actually around 620k, and crosses the Texoma dam twice. A friend joked that it should be renamed: "Two Dam Long 600k".

Good job on the bike, Judy! Have a great day, all!

  10. Good morning, everyone!

It was 70 degrees as I rode to work this morning. The wind isn't as bad today as yesterday. It's supposed to get up to 91 degrees this afternoon. Looking at the 10 day forecast, the forecast high for every day is 90 degrees or over. I guess summer is here.

Last night was group night. Rose baked a birthday cake for Katie, and we gave it to her and sang Happy Birthday at the meeting. Happy Birthday, Katie!

Not much else happening here. Good luck fishing, Stan! Have a great day, all!

  11. Let's try this again. I guess I was posting the same time as Judy. I'll delete mine and make a reply here, instead.

    Good morning, everyone!

It was 73 degrees as I rode to work this morning. It will be 90 degrees with a big south wind for me to fight on the way home this afternoon.

I hope everyone had a good weekend. I rode 106 miles in a club ride on Saturday, and made a short fishing trip on Sunday. I went to Lake Whitney, and didn't catch much. I was more interested in checking out the boat motor. I had installed a stator in it on Thursday, and sure enough, that fixed the intermittent bad running I'd been fighting for a while.

My average weight last week was 183 pounds. That is my target weight, and means I have finally gotten rid of the extra 10 pounds I've been carrying around for the last year and a half. For a lung-challenged cyclist climbing a hill, 10 pounds makes a big difference. I need to keep a closer watch on my weight, now.

    Have a great day, all!

  12. Good morning, everyone! TGIF!

Today is National Bike to Work Day, and I did. It was 64 degrees as I rode to work, supposed to get up to 90 degrees this afternoon, and the storms are supposed to be gone for a while.

I took a day off riding yesterday, and am riding a very easy pace today, so I'll be rested for the 100 mile club ride I'm doing tomorrow.

Glad you're feeling better, MI Judy. Enjoy the new furniture, KW Judy. Have a great day, all!

  13. Good morning, everyone!

It was 74 degrees when I got up this morning, with a forecast high of 85 degrees this afternoon. Storms were passing very close to the south, with more storms forecast for later, but I'd already decided to drive, rather than ride, to work today. I have errands to do after work.

Crowley, Texas, where I currently reside, started out as just a railroad station depot that was built in 1885. The community was named for S.H. Crowley, who was the master of transportation for the railroad. Crowley didn't get around to becoming an incorporated town until 1951, the year I was born.

Not much else happening here, just trying to slog through another day at work. Have a great day, all!

  14. Good morning, everyone!

It was 68 degrees as I rode to work this morning. Forecast high for this afternoon is 88 degrees, and we still have a chance of storms through tomorrow.

Judy in MI, hope you feel better soon. I'm surprised at how much seems to be going around right now. Seems to me that we didn't used to have so much still going around in late May.

Judy in KW, glad you enjoyed your walk and evening out. I have group next Monday.

Nothing much going on here other than the usual grind at work. Have a great day, all!
