  9. Hello everyone! My dad started his new chemo yesterday (Taxotere-Iknow my spelling is WAY off, not even sure how you pronounce it). Anyway, he was hooked up via IV for about a minute and a half and he couldnt breathe, got very hot, dizzy, sick.... He called for the nurse and they shot him up with some Benadril and slowed down the IV, and everything seemed to go fine after that. The nurse said its fairly common for that to happen!? Can anyone tell me if they had any alergic reactions to this stuff? Also, kindof wondering about side effects... Anyone can help???? Jamie

    Tuesdays With David A

kickin it up one more time for you!
  14. Thanks everyone who replied. Im going to tell my dad to get the name of his chemo when he goes for chemo tommorow. Im wondering about all the side effects that the onc. said he would get now. The dr. mentioned a delayed sickness with this chemo. Meaning he wont get sick the day of or the day after like the other chemo... it may be a few days later, anyone know anything about that? I know everyone responds differently... Jamie
  15. Laura, First of all... sorry to hear that your mom is going through all this...BUT... surgery is the best thing for her. My dad just had his lobectomy at the end of June. He is feeling pretty good now, just started to actully. He was only in the hospital for 4 days, and felt ok after they released him. He developed some air and fluid in his chest that was trapped, and this complicated things. The actual surgery went well, and if not for the complication, he would have recovered much much faster. My dad was pretty much able to do alot for himself after surgery. He had trouble driving because of the position he had to be in was painfull, he definitly layed down alot, but as far as everything else, it was painfull but "doable". I hope your mom recovers quickly, and if you have anymore questions, feel free to post them or even PM me! Jamie
  16. Hi all- Finally-after weeks of nothing new, I have some news to report! My dad finally got the ok, (almost 2 months after surgery) to go ahead and start with the preventive chemo. He had some complications from surgery, basicly some trapped air and fluid that turned into this big painful balloon on his back. That has tamed itself down and now he is recovered enough to get back on the chemo wagon . His oncologist told him that this chemo is full force, not the easy stuff he had last time (wish I knew the names of either). He said that his hair will probably fall out this time, and he will probably get sick-really sick. Last time my dad had chemo it didnt bother him at all. He says he had the "watered down version". They are also going to give him steroids the day before and after chemo to keep him healthy. Has anyone else had this? Thats pretty much it. Chemo once every 3 weeks, 4 rounds of it. Just thought ya'll might be interested in what was going on over here! Jamie
  17. Ginny, Prayers and good thoughts that our Earl continues to have pain free days... were thinking of you guys... Jamie

    Fun in Heaven

That story just made my day! Jamie
  19. Paul, My dad had a succesful surgery back in june. Further test show he is NED!!! The dr. wont say anything about being cured or remission but we have full faith. I think after the 2 year high reoccurance rate, if my dad is still NED, he will feel comfortable to celebrate. Im not sure what the guidelines are though. Jamie
  20. Tracy.... I hope i can help you here. My dad had 3 PETs done. Although the dr. said there is always a margin for error, it has hit the nail on the head every time. I have full faith in PET's, it has never steered us wrong. Jamie
  21. Paige, I am SO sorry to hear this. My condolences Jamie

    Tuesdays With David A

Ry, I too have been having a harder time than ever with David. Maybe it was because he was so "Real" to me. I dont know what Im tryin to say. Over the past couple of weeks that he wasnt feeling well, Id find myself logging on just to make sure he was doing ok. We have the same sense of humor, and his jokes always made me laugh (yes-even the dumb ones). Funny how people say you could make any joke funny if you tell it right. David didnt even need to tell it right and I was cracking up... Ive been thinking of him all day long. I never met him, and for that I find myself feeling silly. He was still my friend. Jamie
