  1. I'm sorry that you and your family are having to go through this and with no straight answers. Your Uncle and family are in my prayers.
  2. Dee, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. There is no doubt that love surrounded your grandmother through all of this. Wishing you love and comfort too.
  3. I can relate to this subject. In a way I have found that my usual comfort with my general health has changed. I have found myself thinking "When I go for my next yearly appointment I need to ask about 'this' and 'that'." and then I think, "Oh great, now this doctor is going to think I am a total worry wort, maybe I should say nothing at all." So what I think I am going to do is make sure that my doctor "listens" ... she was really good last time so I might just let her know that this time too. I think it is a good idea to impress upon a doctor our family history and I am learning that they often need to be reminded of things. You are definately not alone ... Hang in there.
  4. Hi Gayle, I am a little late with this "hello". Welcome. This is a great site and the people here make it that way. I have not been able to sit long enough to post more than replies to welcomes but I try to read every day.
  5. Hi Margaret, Welcome to you. My mom is Paddy and my dad was diagnosed with NSCLC on his birthday last year. This has been another difficult journey for my parents and I am so proud of the way they continue to deal with it. Living here in MI while they are in CA is tough too, for many reasons. I have found this group especially caring and supportive. While I have not posted much, I do visit and really appreciate the words spoken here.
  6. Hi Dusty, I'm sorry to hear about your sister. I have not posted much since I came out of lurking mode but I do visit here often. This is a great group of people. Welcome. Karen Daughter of Paddy and David
  7. Thanks to everyone. You are a terrific group of people. cathy - yes, we are the family in MI. We are looking forward to the visit very much. Also we are hoping the weather will be nice ... it is a little confusing today with it being sunny and COLD. But little green things are popping up all over the garden so spring is on the way. SharKats - I never thought I would be a "cat mom" but I sure do love our furry kids. Snowflake - my Dad is with you on this one ... he insists that I need a small black canine running around our house. I have two kids to chase and pick up after so that takes care of that. You are right though, we are lucky to be allowed to live here as the unpaid help to our kittys. Paddy - Hi MOM! Maia and Scott send a hug to you and GRANDPA.
  8. Leslie, I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. What love and comfort she must feel knowing you were with her through it all. Prayers to you for comfort and strength.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I'm so sorry.
  10. My name is Karen and I am the daughter of "Paddy" and David. Wife to a wonderful man and mom to a 9 year old daughter and 3 (almost 4) year old son. Oh, and two furry creatures who say "meow". I have been 'lurking' here since my Mom sent me the link for this site when my Dad was first diagnosed with NSCLC. You are an amazing group of people and I so appreciate your words, wisdom and support. I am glad that my Mom has you to come to. Unfortunately, I am across the country from my parents and the distance is especially hard during times like this. There is a great deal on my mind in and in my heart but I can not seem to find the words right now ... forgive me. The questions will come to me I am sure and hopefully they won't as disjointed as this message. Thank you.
